A city where inspiration awaits around every corner,
where the spark within us comes to life,

and where every moment reminds us
that life is a beautiful adventure
filled with art, poetry, and endless possibilities.

But most of all
A city that celebrates artistic innovation,
And the freedom to follow our dreams 💛❤️

Gracias, Barcelona. ✨

🌙 𝗛𝗶𝗷𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗹𝗮 𝗟𝘂𝗻𝗮 (𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻)
Inspired by Montserrat Caballé’s interpretation

This haunting Spanish tale tells the story of a Romani woman who begs the Moon to help her marry the man she loves. The Moon grants her wish but demands her firstborn child in return, longing to become a mother herself.

🎶 This song will be recorded as part of 𝐹𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑀𝑜𝑜𝑛𝑙𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡 𝑡𝑜 𝑆𝑝𝑜𝑡𝑙𝑖𝑔ℎ𝑡: The Voice’s Journey from Shadow to Light, my Doctor of Musical Arts recording project at Claremont Graduate University.

𝗣𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗜 – 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗩𝗼𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗦𝗲𝗲𝗸𝘀

In my recording project, the 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻 is a recurring symbol of the subconscious, representing a force that brings hidden desires and emotions into conscious awareness.
In 𝐻𝑖𝑗𝑜 𝑑𝑒 𝑙𝑎 𝐿𝑢𝑛𝑎, the 𝗠𝗼𝗼𝗻 is personified as a being with desires of her own. Her longing for motherhood turns a seemingly benevolent gift into a tragic bargain, transforming a woman's wish for love into a story of sacrifice and loss.

✨ More teasers coming soon!

PS: Because of copyright, I cannot put the accompaniment on high volume. So it's mostly my voice for now, but the final recording will have a great balance of instruments & voice!

I’ve been wanting to share more of my thoughts and knowledge about singing, so I’m starting a 𝑽𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒃. ✨

I’ll be sharing ideas, reflections, and hopefully some interesting and useful information about the voice - from the perspective of a singer, teacher, and lifelong student of singing.

𝐋𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝟏: 𝐒𝐩𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐬. 𝐒𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐕𝐨𝐢𝐜𝐞

This lesson was inspired by questions from my students about the relationship between the speaking voice and the singing voice.

It also made me reflect on something I’ve often been asked as a soprano:
“If you’re a soprano, why do you speak so low?”

My habitual speaking pitch tends to fall around A3-B3, which is around average for a soprano according to research studies (and the same speaking pitch as dramatic coloratura sopranoss Diana Damrau & Kathryn Lewek).

But I think this question reveals a common misconception: our speaking voice and singing voice are connected, but they do not function in exactly the same way.

They are part of the same instrument - and, in many ways, part of the same vocal identity - but speaking pitch alone does not determine how high or low we can sing, or what our voice type is.

In this first 𝑽𝒐𝒊𝒄𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒃, I’m sharing a few things I’ve learned about where speaking and singing are similar, where they differ, and why your speaking voice does not define your singing range.

✨ Same instrument. Different coordination.
What would you like to learn about next?

One morning in Prague 🇨🇿

I came to Prague to facilitate a workshop for @evolutionary.archetypes. It was a privilege to meet such inspiring people, and I learned so much through teaching and exchanging ideas.

Before heading home, I had one quiet morning to explore the city - walking down from Prague Castle, crossing Charles Bridge, passing the National Theatre - where Dvořák played the violin - and stopping for coffee at Café Louvre.

It was inspiring to soak up the spirit of this city while listening to my favorite Czech fairy tale opera Rusalka

6:00am - Started walking up and down the castle 🏰

Crossed Charles Bridge 🌉 and found the “Commendatore” statue 🎶

Found the National Theater 🎭 where Antonín Dvořak played the violins before dedicating his life to composing… and of course… coffee before heading back home by @katharina.soprano

Unforgettable Lunar New Year’s performance 🧧✨

Last night, I embraced my inner Disney princess - bringing my operatic voice to “Into the Unknown.”

Watching the little girls’ eyes light up was everything ❤️
So grateful to share my voice representing @moonlightmusicacademy - especially with the children in the audience. 💫

Thank you to the @nixonfoundation for including me in such a beautiful celebration.

Happy and serene after today’s #Messiah performance. 🎄

My favorite moment was connecting with the audience and the orchestra during “If God Be For Us” - a soprano aria that carries the quiet strength and resilience that comes from aligning with something greater than ourselves.

Whether it’s empowering others, acting for the greater good, or feeling the universe support sus during difficult times, this piece reminds me of the path we walk with purpose.

This aria made me reflect on all the strength it has taken to get to where I am, and the power of the human voice.

Infinitely grateful to share my voice. ✨

🦚 Happy Halloween!

I’ve always been fascinated by birds -
especially the peacock.
Maybe because I’m a songbird too 🦢🎶

Though many see vanity in its feathers,
the peacock’s runs deeper as a symbol of

✨ Immortality and majesty - in Ancient Greece
✨ Resurrection and eternal life - in Christianity
✨ Compassion, beauty, and divine love - in Hinduism
✨ Transformation: poisons turned to beauty - in Buddhism

I resonate with all of these qualities -
turning emotions like sadness
into something beautiful -
through my voice, telling stories through art & words,
and through teaching. 🎶💫

Bonus: I love this costume cause it reminds me a bit of Queen of The Night 👸🏼

The heart knows beauty

René Decartes “Le passion de l’âme” (The Passions of the Soul) defined love as “a passion that arises when the soul joins itself willingly”… ♥️

I love this definition.

Love has been the one guiding force in my life.

I love the sunset and the ocean 🌊
They remind me that beauty doesn’t ask permission to exist.

There were seasons when melodies weren’t mine,
when stories were borrowed,
and when even the brightest light was softened
so others could stay comfortable in its glow.

But love has its own rhythm. 🎶
It waits patiently,
shining quietly until it can no longer be hidden.

Now the path is clear:
to sing only what carries love,
to live only what brings joy,
and to let the light shine without apology.

Because love is the only sound worth following. ✨

🌙 Song to the Moon ✨

A mermaid gazes at the world above,
longing for what lies just beyond reach.
The night sky listens in silence,
the moon becomes her guide.

It is a story of leaving the familiar,
of risking everything for love,
of trusting the unknown -
guided only by the light within.

A fragment of her song -
and in many ways, my own story too.

A glimpse, a whisper of moonlight,
before the full song is revealed.

🌌 I hope you enjoy this glimpse of my new Song to the Moon recording! 🎶
