POSTS STORIES REELS

I thought I understood early childhood development…
until I stepped into the community.

As a community nurse, I have seen that a child’s growth is not shaped by one thing.
Not just food.
Not just clinic visits.
Not even love alone.

It is shaped by the environment they grow in…
the support their caregivers have…
and even the changing climate around them.

I have seen how small, consistent actions can make a difference—
and how lack of support can quietly shape a child’s future.

Thats why , I choose to share not just what I learned in books…
but what I have learned from real lives and real communities.

Through Nurturing Care Alliance, we are committed to supporting not just children—
but the families and environments that shape them.

Because every child deserves not just to survive…
but to truly thrive. 🤍

Some stories leave visible scars.
Others hide quietly in the shadows of childhood… shaping how we love, trust, react, survive, and heal.
Over the past months I have been working on my first book and somewhere along the way I got so afraid, I thought what if nobody wants to read it or what if they don’t like it but then thinking of how much this book healed the parts of me that I didn’t think it needed healing, I want to aslo share it to the world so as we can finally heal together so Today, I’m finally revealing the cover of my upcoming book:

✨ Tiny Scars, Big Shadows: Understanding the hidden impact of Childhood Trauma and the Journey to healing🍃

This book was written with compassion, truth, and hope for every person who has ever carried pain they struggled to explain. It explores the hidden impact of childhood trauma on mental, emotional, and even physical health — and the courage it takes to begin healing.

Between these pages are stories, reflections, education, and gentle reminders that our past may influence us, but it does not have to define us forever.

I wrote this book for the people who learned to stay strong too early.
For the adults still carrying the child they once were.
For anyone trying to heal from wounds that never had words.

This project became more than just a book to me. Somewhere between the pages, I found deeper understanding, difficult truths, and hope. Writing it changed me — and I hope it speaks to someone who needs it too 🤍

Because some wounds don’t bleed… yet they shape everything.

Healing begins with understanding.
And understanding begins with conversations we were once too afraid to have.

Coming soon… ✨ and the count down has just begun ❤️ The bood will be both in as an ebook and the printed hard copy! I cant wait for you to finally read it🥹❤️

My Dearest February,
I have been waiting for you. Not just as another month on the calendar, but as a fresh chapter, a quiet promise of something new. You arrive with soft whispers of love, of renewal, of growth-and I am so ready to embrace you.
This time, I walk into you with open arms, with a heart willing to heal, and a mind eager to learn. I am ready for the lessons you will bring, the moments that will shape me, and the love-whether loud or quiet-that you will sprinkle into my days.
Let’s grow together, February. Let’s turn pain into wisdom, solitude into strength, and dreams into reality. I trust you to guide me, to remind me that even in my quietest moments, I am still becoming.
Here’s to love, to healing, and to becoming more of who l’m meant to be.
With all my heart,

If someone asked me why I wrote Tiny Scars, Big Shadows, I don’t think I would have a perfect answer.

But what I know is that I wrote it for the younger version of me, who didn’t always have the words to explain what she was feeling. And for the healing version of me, who is slowly learning that some wounds need to be acknowledged before they can begin to heal.

Perhaps I wrote it for the child who grew up being told to be strong.
For the one who learned to keep quiet because nobody seemed to notice the silence.
For the adult who still struggles with things they cannot quite explain.
For the person who has spent years thinking that what happened to them wasn’t that serious.

Maybe you need someone to gently tell you that your childhood experiences matter. That being a child who never caused trouble doesn’t mean you never needed attention. That you were allowed to have feelings, to make mistakes, to ask for comfort, and to be a child.

Maybe you need to understand that healing doesn’t mean pretending it never happened.

And perhaps, somewhere between these pages, you will find a little piece of yourself.

Tiny Scars, Big Shadows is more than a book I wrote. It is a conversation I wish many of us had been allowed to have much earlier.

To the younger versions of ourselves: you deserved gentleness, too. 🤎

Between sunsets, oceans, and slowly falling in love with nature. 🌅🌊🤎

A little pause from the noise, a little more room to breathe, and a reminder that sometimes the most beautiful moments are found in the simplest things.
My kind of Monday Evening…….🥰Nature as a form of therapy.

Dear November,

Please, be gentle.

I am not entirely sure what I am walking into this month with, but I know what I am leaving behind. Some disappointments, a few unanswered questions, versions of myself I have outgrown, and expectations that perhaps were never mine to carry.

October taught me things I wasn’t particularly interested in learning. It reminded me that people can surprise you, that healing doesn’t always look like progress, and that sometimes the bravest thing you can do is accept what is, even when it is nothing like what you hoped it would be.

But here we are. Another month. Another opportunity to begin again.

Dear November, I hope you bring softer days. I hope you remind me that life is still happening outside the things that worry me. That there is still laughter to be shared, books to be read, places to visit, prayers to be answered, and beautiful little moments waiting to be noticed.

I hope I learn to stop rushing myself. To stop measuring my progress against someone else’s timeline. To enjoy the person I am becoming instead of constantly worrying about how far I still have to go.

And perhaps, most importantly, I hope I become a little kinder to myself.

May I have the courage to make difficult decisions, the wisdom to recognise what deserves my energy, and the grace to walk away from things that no longer feel like home.

I don’t need you to be perfect, November. I don’t need every dream to come true or every uncertainty to disappear.

Just give me reasons to keep believing that beautiful things are still possible.

Let this be a month of quiet victories, answered prayers, genuine connections, intentional living, and unexpected joy.

And if things don’t go according to plan, remind me that a difficult day is not a difficult life.

Here’s to showing up, trying again, and making room for all the goodness that life still has to offer.

With love, hope, and a heart still learning,

Hey… my name is Tiny Scars, Big Shadows. 🤎

I am made of the things you learned to call normal.

The childhood moments you brushed aside.
The feelings you learned to hide.
The things you survived without having the words to explain.
The ways you became strong because you didn’t know you were allowed to be anything else.

I am about the wounds that don’t always leave marks.

The ones that follow us quietly into adulthood—
into our relationships,
our friendships,
our parenting,
our self-worth,
and the way we love and care for ourselves.

Because sometimes, what happened to us was small enough to dismiss…
but its shadow was big enough to follow us.

I’m Tiny Scars, Big Shadows.
And maybe, somewhere in these pages,
you’ll recognize a younger version of yourself. 🤎

Some wounds don’t leave marks. They leave shadows.

Grace that opens the door to places I could never reach on my own.
Mercy that keeps me standing where I once thought I’d never be.
And favor that reminds me — God has been intentional with my story. 🤍

Just grateful. Just becoming. #godsfavoritechild♥️ #divinetiming✨ #walkingingraceandfavor #becomingher #growth by @katherineangelous

A lot of you have been asking me why I wrote Tiny Scars, Big Shadows… and some have even asked if it’s a novel. 👀

So… grab your chair, and let me tell you something. 🤎

This book was born out of listening — not imagination.

Through the Nurse Next Door mental health campaign, I sat with people of different ages carrying invisible wounds that began in childhood and never received the care they needed.

Anxiety. Trust issues. Struggles they couldn’t explain. Pain they had learned to carry quietly.

And almost always, there was one thing missing: someone to talk to. Someone to say, “I see you.”

In our communities, we’re often quick to call it “discipline,” “just normal life,” or something a child will simply forget.

But the body remembers.
The mind remembers.
And sometimes, those wounds follow us for decades.

I didn’t want to write a book full of statistics.

I wanted to write stories — the kind that remind someone:

You are not alone.
You are not beyond healing.
Your story matters.

So, to answer you plainly:

Tiny Scars, Big Shadows is not a novel.

It is a mental health book about the hidden impact of childhood experiences — written in a language you don’t need a medical degree to understand. 🤎. Maybe you really shouldn’t read Tiny Scars, Big Shadows… 👀

Especially if you’re not ready to question the things you thought were “normal,” understand your coping mechanisms a little differently, and look at your younger self with more compassion. 🌿

But if you ARE ready…
well, I tried to warn you. 😂🫣📖
