Not how I expected to be spending my Tuesday morning but grateful for getting seen so quickly. Physical examination, mammogram and ultrasound and thankfully the all clear. Never just brush it off. If something doesn’t feel right, get checked out. #breastcancerawareness by @katrinacliffe

John has had fun today 🎃 by @katrinacliffe

Two beautiful skates today with a 🥉 in the Foxtrot and 4th place overall ahead of the free dance tomorrow. Looking forward to the new dance being debuted. by @katrinacliffe

We don’t need a babyloss awareness week to remember you, Casey. You’re never far from our thoughts. Even without you being here, you have played a pivotal role in shaping our lives and the type of parents we would be and have become. We’ve not always got it right, but we’ve continued to learn and grow to ensure we give your sisters the very best opportunities in life. You should have been here to be their big brother, and going by the height of them no doubt you would have towered above your dad! I wonder what you would have been into, whether or not you would have inherited my taste in music (hopefully because the rest of this family has poor taste 😆). Would you have been into ice skating / hockey and maybe F1? Would you have inherited my creativity or perhaps been more logical like your dad? No doubt you would have had a stubborn streak like we all do, but we all love each other fiercely. You would be so proud of your sisters and the young women they are growing into. If only you were with us in person rather than spirit to be part of the ride 💙 This month is especially poignant as even though Casey was born in June, he was due in October. You should have been my Halloween baby, my favourite season. Thank you @tommys for all you do to support those families affected by babyloss. Without your research we wouldn’t have our girls. And this In Memory Sky is a beautiful tribute to all those babies lost too soon 💙 by @katrinacliffe

Absolutely knackered my back from being in this place but at least I get to see her do pretty things like this ❤️ by @katrinacliffe

Today’s trek was definitely off the beaten path… and up a bloody big hill! #wincobank #sheffield by @katrinacliffe

I did a thing for me yesterday and took some time out to address some issues that have been longstanding, namely my inability to say no to people and the knock on effect that it has on me and my family.

I can’t describe the guilt I feel when someone asks me to do something or if someone is struggling with something how I step in to help out, rather than leaving them to figure it out… and then I’m left wondering why I just exist through life and never have time to do things that bring me joy.

I know exactly where these feelings come from - that’s a whole other story. In one way it’s served me well in achieving the things I have, but it’s also led to burnout, physical pain and other health issues. And life is too short to not focus on the people that matter, and in reality I have those people under my roof.

Today has been day 1 of putting that awakening into practice… I’ve not responded to messages that can wait, I’ve cleaned my house, I’ve done loads of washing and ironing. I’ve cooked a meal and prepped for a busy week ahead. And I feel so much lighter for contributing at home rather than leaving John to picking up my slack.

So if you ask me for something and I say no, it’s nothing personal. It’s just time for me to start to be selfish and being there wholly for the people who are always there for me.

A lovely evening with my gran and my girls at Burlesque the musical, followed by a morning with Stevie before she headed back down to Nottingham. by @katrinacliffe
