Happy 11th birthday to my handsome Finn! You are loyal and funny and smart and strong and sarcastic and I never know what’s going to come out of your mouth. You keep me on my toes and every time I feel like I’ve figured you out, you prove me wrong. I love you more than you’ll ever know. Happy birthday son! by @kaytlin.martin

Tomorrow marks 19 years since I lost my mom. I was 19. And it was the first day of my second year in college. Tomorrow, for the first time, I will have officially been without her for longer than I was with her. 19 years of memories with her. 19 years of memories without her. I’ve been dreading for this day to come. And now it feels like I’ve crossed some invisible line—like I’ve officialy lived an entire lifetime without her. And that feels…weird. And sad. Additionally, I ran out of unseen photos of her, which is gutting in its own right. Over time I feel like I’m grasping onto things to remember her by so she’s not just part of some sad story I share on occasion and when I think of my mom I go back to two things: her laugh and how soft her hands were. The woman should’ve been a hand model- I will forever remember the feeling of her hands. Her laugh came from deep down and was impossible to ignore. Loss is strange and my relationship with my mom was nothing short of complicated. But I love my mom. I miss my mom, and I’ve missed her even harder after becoming a mom. Nothing defines you more than motherhood and I understand her in ways I couldn’t before. I find myself day dreaming about what it would have looked like if she would have shown up for me during pregnancy and child birth and motherhood. Wondering what kind of advice she’d give me and I ask myself if we would have healed from whatever misunderstandings stood between us. Music defines so much of my upbringing- both my mom and my dad were moved by music and artistry and when I feel like I need them the most; they’re brought back for moments when I listen to certain songs. My mom loved Rod Stewart, Melissa Etheridge and Stevie Nicks. A vintage emo, if you will.✨ These anniversaries are icky and difficult and impossible to ignore. They are equally impossible to explain. Tonight I will reflect, hopefully not obsess, and I will hold space for myself and space for my mom. I say this every year but this year feels extra true. It’s not just the big stuff, it’s the little stuff between. Missing you today and everyday. by @kaytlin.martin

KINDER GRAD! 🎓✏️🫶 I am so proud of our littlest babe for being so brave and excited to start school with all of her siblings. For five years, Ari was part of the school drop off & pick up for our crew and she was absolutely ready to be part of the fun. I couldn’t be happier with her teachers, staff members, classroom parents and classmates that surrounded her this year. To top it off, Kyzer’s 4th grade class had Kinder buddies with Ari’s class so they got extra special time together. by @kaytlin.martin
FIFTH GRADE GRAD! ✨🎓✏️ so proud of my brave, smart, beautiful & silly Harper Rose. she is and will forever be too good to be true. 🫶 by @kaytlin.martin

11.21.19 will forever be my favorite date ♾️ I’ve had the honor of being your wife for the last six years. And in that amount of time I have learned, what feels like, everything about you- a lifetimes worth of events. Your moments of joy and moments of heartache and everything between. Truth is, we’ve only scratched the surface of what there is to learn about one another and there is an indescribable beauty in that because I can’t wait to know you more. I tell you I love you (literally every day) but what I want you to truly know is that I love all of you. I love the man you were before we met, the man you’ve grown into since and I can’t wait to continue to fall in love with the man you’ll become. You are my best friend. My confidant. You’ve healed wounds you did not inflict, wiped tears you did not create and held me until I’ve fallen asleep. You are my husband- in every sense of the word, the husband I need, the man I am so proud of, so in love with and I promise to do my best to make it known, always. In this life and the next. I love you always, in all ways. Thank you for loving me. Happy Anniversary my love, here’s to year 7 🫶🏻 by @kaytlin.martin
E L E V E N ✨ Our ocean-loving, spotlight-stealing, hockey puck-saving superstar turned 11 yesterday! As our oldest girl, you lead with kindness, laughter, and a whole lot of silly fun. You’re brave, warm-hearted, and full of life — and we’re so proud of the leader and beautiful soul you are becoming. 💫 Happiest of Birthdays, Harper Rose- your mama loves you a whole freakin lot. by @kaytlin.martin
