Love & other connections is on view at @baltimorejewelrycenter thru November 14th. It features 111 hearts, 7 clasps, and 1 net (I did a heart count once everything was up!). 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 Thanks to the team at BJC for all of their help and support in helping to make this show a reality! I’m super excited to finally get these ideas in to the world, and super grateful to the people who helped me get there. More (better) images to come soon :) by @kdangerk
Today’s the day for all the hearts!!! Happy Valentine’s Day 💗💗💗💗💗 To celebrate, here is a new piece from Love & Other Connections: Manifestation 2025 24k Gold Leaf, Plaster, Foam, Cleats Heart Charm: 22” x 22” x 9” 18’ Rope Chain This body of work uses the language of jewelry to trace the invisible threads that connect people. Jewelry serves as both object and metaphor - a tangible manifestation of love, memory, and human connection. Worn close to the body, it occupies both public and private spaces, revealing and concealing meaning in equal measure. In this series, jewelry is reimagined as sculpture, transforming familiar components - heart charms, lockets, clasps - into larger narratives about relationships and emotion. These forms become stand-ins for people themselves, embodying the fragility, endurance, and complexity of our bonds. Jewelry’s role as a souvenir of connection is amplified and examined, inviting reflection on how we hold, preserve, and sometimes lose one another. Materiality becomes a language of its own. Nu Gold, a low value base metal designed to imitate gold, is used on precisely pressed heart charms - it’s inevitable tarnish marking time, impermanence, and the illusion of perfection. In contrast, 24k gold leaf is gilded over hand-coated plaster forms, where its luminosity sanctifies imperfection. This interplay between authenticity and artifice, permanence and decay, mirrors the contradictions of intimacy. Ultimately, these works honor the tension between our longing for connection and the ongoing effort to remain true to ourselves. by @kdangerk

Tree appreciation post: part 2 🪾🪵🌳 Crane vs tree timelapse by @kdangerk
Tree appreciation post! 🪾 🪵 🌳 Part of what I really love about my house is the large trees in the yard…the biggest one, a beautiful post oak, had been slowly dying since before I came in to the picture. In January, before the ice storm, it was time for it to come down. I counted the rings on the stump and got 131! This means that acorn got plopped in the ground in the 1890s! This tree had seen some things…it was strategically left in the back western corner of the yard to provide shade to the house. It was a home to a family of squirrels…you can see their squirrel hole in one of the pictures…this also meant it was noodle’s favorite tree to run to in the morning and try to catch herself a squirrel. Here are some pictures of the tree, and some videos of noodle, hanging out in her favorite places underneath of it. by @kdangerk
RJM is sad to say goodbye to Kathleen Kennedy, our director since 2017! Kathleen helped facilitate 10 installments of the RJM project around the US, as well as Scotland and Brasil. She also helped to coordinate RJM exhibitions at institutions like Metal Museum, North Carolina Museum of Art, Contemporary Craft Pittsburg, and the Fuller Museum. While she will still be making Madeover jewelry for RJM, we will miss collaborating with her as director! We have been so grateful for her steadfast advocacy of our mission. Message from Kathleen: It’s hard to put into words how much RJM means to me and the gratitude that I have for my collaborator and director, Susie Ganch. Shepherding this project over the past 8 years has been one of the most rewarding and impactful experiences of my professional career. I’m proud to continue to be an RJM artist, and am excited to see the amazing things that lie ahead for this project and its incredible team. 💗💗💗💗💗💗💗 Let’s give Katlheen some love in the comments! PS. We had to have a Beyoncé song for the post just for you @kdangerk 😘 by @kdangerk

@radicaljewelrymakeover is on the move again! We just had an action packed weekend at MSU with students from the metal program. KU metal students came too and thanks to @jinaseo_jewelry and @sunyoung.cheong we had excellent time sorting donations for this installment of the project. Students are now starting to design new pieces from this pile of unwanted cast-off materials. Thanks everyone who joined in for your hard work, curiousity, and enthusiasm! #contemporarycraft #artaboutclimatechange #recycledplastic #singleuseplastic #ethicalmetalsmiths #radicaljewelrymakeover #ethicaljewelry #responsiblejewelry #studiojewelry #recycledmaterials #reusedmaterials #repurposedplastic #artjewelry by @kdangerk
