FIRED EN MASSE opens this Friday at the Center for Contemporary Art in Bedminster, NJ and is the culmination of 3 summers out at John Reinking’s @the_kilnyard with 8 artists going BIG! Please join us at the opening from 6:00-8:30 @ccabedminster I was away this summer at a residency @starworksceramics in NC so I built this pair there. My slab built angular form wanted to be paired with this softer ‘blobby’ form influenced by my fellow resident @jessikae15 ‘s work. I’m still processing my first residency experience at Starworks and am trying to hold on to the freedom, fun and camaraderie of my time there🔥. These were fired @the_kilnyard anagama 🔥🔥🔥 #woodfiredceramics #woodfiredpottery #bigshitceramics #kikiandbouba #starworksceramics by @keikopots

I am very excited to have this piece at Queen City Clay in the show The Coal Bed juried by Mark Hewitt🔥! @queencityclay @markhewittpottery This piece is made with marbled clay slabs and fired in John Reinking’s anagama kiln for 7 days. @john_reinking @the_kilnyard The show runs through October 23, opening on the 9th and a workshop by Mark Hewitt October 10-11! #woodfiredceramics #woodfiredpottery #womenwhowoodfire #anagama by @keikopots
These are the 2 pieces I left at Starworks at the end of my residency. Made with marbled clay - the first with grogeewemee, dark star, coarse white and the second with new Catawba wild, dark star. Ash glazed and fired in the second chamber of the noborigama cone 13. Starworks residency was amazing-the people-fellow residents, interns, people who worked there-were the best mix of creativity, kindness and so much fun. There were endless laughs as we all became our weirdest selves. And SO many snacks!!! Oreos, watermelon, banana pudding🍌🍉🍪🥨🥟 I am so grateful for the experience. by @keikopots
Here are 2 sculptures I just finished building at Starworks. The forms are meant to nestle and interact. It’s been exciting to push the limits of size and form-the angular form being more familiar to me while the blobby one-not at all. It was a challenge to get the curves and surfaces to where I (almost) wanted them. I was lucky to have fellow residents @estrellaconnelly and @jessikae15 to help me figure it out! I have a new found love for ribs🩻 These will be fired @the_kilnyard with @john_reinking later this month🔥 by @keikopots
Earlier this week I drove to Star, NC, to visit Keiko (@keikopots) during her artist residency at Starworks (@starworksceramics). Met some of the awesome folks working and making at Starworks, there is a lot of great art being made there. We took a tour of Seagrove, saw so many beautiful pots and wood kilns. What an overwhelmingly special place! by @keikopots
Meet Summer Ceramic Artist in Residence, Keiko Inouye 🌟 @keikopots is a New Jersey-based ceramic artist who creates both hand-built, wood-fired sculptures and custom tableware for restaurants. After studying pottery at Wesleyan University, she apprenticed with renowned Japanese ceramicist Kaitaro Kojima, where she honed a disciplined and contemplative approach to the craft. Keiko collaborates with fine dining chefs, designing tableware that elevates the dining experience while reflecting each chef’s culinary vision. Her work has been featured in the restaurants of chefs such as Melissa King, Robbie Felice, and Hari Nayak. During her residency at Starworks, Keiko is taking a step back from tableware to further explore sculptural forms while experimenting with @starworksceramics wild clay bodies. This is her first artist residency, and we’re thrilled to welcome her into our creative community! Join us this Thursday, June 25 at 5:30pm for Artist Talks featuring Keiko alongside Summer Glass Artist in Residence Deborah Czeresko. Hear about their artistic journeys, inspirations, and what they’re creating during their time at Starworks. 🔥 #Artistresidency #ncarts #artsnc #ceramicartist #starworks by @keikopots
