I love open water swimming. I find the sensory deprivation refreshing.

My senses often feel over stimulated in Motherhood so this is a welcomed break for them.

Once I’ve got my breathing under control (which atm takes a few minutes with the water temperature only being 13 degrees), told myself I’m fine after seeing fish and everything else that’s underneath the water here 🤣 and settled into the first lap- I find it so relaxing.

The health benefits of swimming combined with those of being in cold water, deep breathing, being in a beautiful location and my senses having a rest are all a winning combination ✨

Today’s swim felt lovely. I left feeling calm and proud of swimming the 1900m needed for the Ironman 70.3 in a few weeks.

Nervous system regulation complete. Capacity built. And my sinuses are all good.

Happy days ✨

Thank you for coming with me @ievadoig

Please Note: Cold water and open water swimming will not be regulating or safe for all. It depends on many factors (health, stress levels, previous experiences in water to name a few) so please do make sure that you are ok to do them and have the right support in place to feel safe and enjoy it.

Pool swimming is a great place to start and enjoy the benefits. Then building up-to open water at warmer times of year with people who are experienced in open water swimming.

I can’t believe it’s nearly been a week already! I’m slowly coming down from it all and I can now walk which is great 🤣

It was such a fantastic weekend. I can highly recommend this race (Iron kids too).

I am delighted with how it all went.

🏊🏻‍♀️ 43mins. It felt choppy, I got hit on the head by a guy (cheers) and a few swimmers kept swimming right across me (they must have been finding it hard to sight)-but all of this is standard behaviour 😩🙈. I was happy with my time.

🚵🏻‍♀️ 3hr 41mins. I have been focusing on getting out on my bike more over the last 4 months and it paid off. It’s a rolling course and the wind picked up towards the end (nothing like Belgium last yr tho!) So happy with how the bike felt.

🏃🏽‍♀️ 2hr 31mins. Really happy with how I kept moving on the run. The first 4/5 miles felt good. After that I slowed down abit and just focused on running the flats and downs and walking the up hills (it’s a rolling run course with lots of secret inclines!). And no stomach issues this time 💪

Overall my time was 7hr 11mins. Which was 40 minutes faster than my time in Belgium. You can’t ever really compare courses- they have different profiles and weather conditions on different days- but for a hillier bike and run leg- I’ll take that.

I’m getting fitter. This feels amazing.

The highlight for me was getting to share it with my family this time 🥰 Seeing them gave me such a boost.

Inspiring my girls means everything to me. To show them that we can age well, stay strong, do hard things, and keep moving forwards when life feels tough. To back ourselves, keep showing up for ourselves and believe that anything is possible.

The community that Ironman creates is heart warming and the impact can be life changing.

Everyone cheering each other on, turning up scared and brave, achieving what once felt impossible and inspiring those around them.

In a world that often feels divided and fearful- this space feels safe, connecting, hopeful and empowering.

It’s a community I’m proud to be apart of ✨

I hope I made my girls proud. I hope they feel it too.

Kel ❤

Winter training is a mental challenge as well as physical.

Most of the time being alone feels nice tbh-just me, the bike and a chance to watch something that I want without being interrupted!

But I also like training with others. So where I can I do this. I’ve joined online and local clubs and have friends to train with too.

I would say that still- 75% of my training is done alone, in the parts of the day that I have time and that have the least impact on everyone. Sometimes done in small chunks and on little motivation.

I always feel better for training tho. It lifts my mood and changes my mindset.

I’m better woman and mother for each session that I do and each slither of time and space that I manage to create for myself.

It’s also what feels so incredible when crossing a finish line. Knowing that you did this- you showed up again and again and that it’s led to this incredible, empowering moment. Nothing else feels like crossing that finish line.

So here I am again on my own in the garage 🤣😎- to everyone else putting in the winter miles for those summer smiles and time for you- I’m with you.

Are you training for something? Or can you remember what this is like?

We’ve got this 💪🙌🏻✨

This mornings class was so lovely✨🥰

Today we spoke about pressing pause on our busy lives for the hour, letting go of tension in the body and breathing deeply.

We did some nadi shodhana- alternate nostril breathing, horse lips (if you’ve been to my classes before you’ll know I love this 🤣🙌🏻) and postures to help ease tension and aid mobility in our back, hips, neck, shoulders and chest.

We also worked through several postures to help massage our kidneys and adrenals. Remember to keep drinking plenty of water ladies.

It felt great and was needed after half term!

See you next week ladies.

Sending love.

Struggle to relax? I do too sometimes.

It takes time to feel more relaxed esp when I have been rushing around and moving from one thing to the next- day after day. Week after week.

Life is busy and taking time to pause and slow down can seem like we just don’t have time for it.

It’s also something I know we need to do - we need to weave it through our week to help avoid burnout.

To help us recover from training, sleep better, balance our hormones, have more capacity for our children, reduce anxiety and overwhelm, calm our busy minds, ease muscular tension and the list goes on.

Trust me- it’s worth making the time for and it’s worth working at.

Start slowly, do 10minutes. Then build it up.

I love a slow yoga session. It balances out all of the other parts of my life that are not slow or restorative.

Try 10 minutes. Notice how you feel. Or if you’re local to Windermere- come and join me in my classes.

✨The science behind the pose ✨

The Seated Twist: What it is and what does it do?!

This posture helps to improve sub-diaphragmatic organ function including :
✔️Kidney and adrenal function
✔️Circulation
✔️Digestion
✔️Reproductive function
✔️Liver function
✔️Immune system function

Mindful nasal breathing used during this pose helps to improve respiration through:
✔️Rib expansion
✔️lung stimulation
✔️Clean and clear the nasal passage of toxins and blockages

It also helps to improve our posture and builds strength in the muscles in the abdomen, chest, shoulders and neck.

🤍 Energetically this posture also open our heart chakra. An energy centre in the body which holds grief. When open this chakra brings connection and love.

The trauma informed bit….
🤍 Dynamic breathing activates the sympathetic nervous system so you must have capacity for this.

This posture can be done slowly with a shallow breath to start with to have a more gentle and relaxing effect.

The length of time spent repeating this post will be increased over time once capacity and regulation increases.

In 1:1s and group sessions we slowly build this posture up to 3 minutes- you are in charge of the length of time that you stay in a posture and can stop when you please. You can choose not to do this one too. Your decision always.

*Other considerations for the use of this posture include pregnancy and postnatal recovery, tissue healing and respiratory conditions- start small and slow and listen to your body. Take guidance from professionals around your tissue healing.

Always seek guidance from a medical professional.

Follow along for more information like this. And to find out how you can work with me online or locally in the Lake District, UK click the link in my bio.

Putting this here as a reminder to change your mind when you need to ladies ❤️

We are allowed to change our minds, cancel plans, rest, say no-without feeling guilty or like we are letting people down or being boring/a failure.

When we start to notice where we are pushing against what we really want- the magic happens.

I often make plans when I have capacity and genuinely look forward to them- only to then get to the day and realise that it isn’t what I need in that moment.

I used to skirt around my reasons and not own it- but now- I’m honest. And if people are or offended or upset- that’s ok. They are allowed to be. AND I’m also going to meet my needs.

As a recovering people pleaser this is big. I’ve come along way. It isn’t easy at first but it gets easier with practice.

We work through aspects like this in my coaching sessions. Setting boundaries, following our intuition, communication, protecting our energy and peace etc- it’s really important for our wellbeing.

Let’s do more of this ladies.

Sending love

Matrescence and Perimenopause ✨

Going through two of the biggest transitions we can go through as a Women at the same time is no joke.

I’ve spent the past 2 years feeling abit lost personally and just not quite like myself (being in the thick of your Matrescence with young children and perimenopause will do that 🥴), my health has thrown up one thing after another (thanks hormones 🙈), my confidence and capacity for stress took a nose dive and my anxiety went through the roof. Oh and we relocated to a new area. So lots of change ❤️

Over the past few months things have started to settle and I finally feel more like myself again.

HRT is helping me, so is iron, magnesium, B12, an anti inflammatory and insulin resistance diet amongst other things .

It’s been a lot of lifestyle changes to get my head around but it’s all slowly becoming a habit.

Building a lovely community of friends around me up here has helped massively too. And committing to a fitness goal has anchored me and helped me to make some lovely mates and kept me accountable to moving my body.

I’ve always been fit, loved different sports and always felt healthy and well. I’ve had a strong sense of who I am and felt confident.

This chapter has flipped the script and is really challenging me. What used to work doesn’t or isn’t available to me atm. Life is busy, beautiful , full and stressful.

So I’m figuring it all out day by day.

Progress is slow but that’s ok. I’m not giving up.

I’m not trying to be who I was- but I am deciding on the parts of me I want to bring with me in this new chapter.

The bits that still bring me joy, empower me and help me prioritise myself.

Keep showing up mamas. Get your bloods done again and again. Keep advocating for yourself if something doesn’t quite feel right.

Surround yourself with people who lift you up.

This is beautiful and hard and so are we.

Sending love and strength

Kel 🙏✨
