pink is everywhere!! ppl always ask me where I find inspiration or tell me I use unusual colors in my landscapes.

you can find pink just about anywhere in nature. in the mountains, the shadows, the rocks, sunrise, sunset… it’s everywhere

I love pulling out those unexpected colors and bringing them into my paintings. sometimes you just have to look a little closer 👀 🌺 by @kellypetersart

it’s not possible to express the emotions into an instagram post. losing your mom will rock your world and rock your days, mornings & nights. i choose to not let grief consume me the way it used to because she raised me to be strong. she raised me to be gracious, to be fearless in my dreams and to love as much as i can 💗💗💗 miss you so much mom. madonna for her bc she loved her cds so much. by @kellypetersart

just finished up this triptych of pyramid peak for the loveliest client in aspen. i don’t usually use this much green but i’m kind of obsessed with how it turned out. haven’t done as many commissions this year as i was busy just selling what i had in stock! but i am ready to take a couple more for holiday delivery.

i have a couple commission spots left for the rest of the year - email me if you want one! kellypetersart@gmail.com 📸 @david_clifford_photography by @kellypetersart

hi, i’m kelly. i’ve painted the mountains and the west for years, but lately the work has become less about the view and more about the feeling of being in these places. freedom, wide open spaces, and the pull of letting go…
some new work finally seeing daylight✨ very bright daylight lol! shot on film by the lovely and sooo talented @alilatimerphotography. any pieces speak to you?? by @kellypetersart

I spend so much of my own painting practice trying to get out of my head and stop worrying about what something is “supposed” to look like.

So that’s kind of the whole point of this class.

We’re taking painting outside, working big, experimenting with layers, movement, color and whatever is around us, without pressure of what it’s supposed to “be”.

Process over Product is a free outdoor painting workshop at Midland Park in Basalt.

September 30 + October 6
4–6 PM
All materials included
All levels welcome
10 spots per class
Come paint outside with me!

Sign up through the link in my bio on eventbrite.
Sponsored by Town of Basalt and the Basalt Public Arts Commission BPAC. Thank you!! by @kellypetersart

not pictured: the sweat in the photo studio, forgetting my brushes, ibuprofen for my lumbar disc issues, nervous laughs while pretending i know how to model, and all the other things life brings your way.

when you guys see me in person and say “wow, you’re so busy,” remember you are seeing the edited version of running an art business. some weeks are chaos. some months are painfully slow. i don’t post a lot of the slow moments or the i’m losing my mind moments. social media is EDITED to look a certain way! duh! xoxo by @kellypetersart

always a bittersweet feeling for the OGS!! but the best because i know they’re going to bring some new good vibes where they’re going 🙏🏽✨ by @kellypetersart

hi! i’ve met so many new ppl this summer at events and the markets, so i figured it was time to do a little background on who i am and how i ended up doing what i do today! this is a very small snippet into my life and how i ended up in colorado. if you’re new here, hi- and for those who’ve been following they know i am crazy already! 😂👋 by @kellypetersart

painted these because i wanted to try something different!!

i honestly had no clue if anyone would like them, and i was weirdly nervous to put them out there. changing directions is uncomfortable… turns out that’s kind of the point lol

the series is called ‘tell my boss i quit’ not bc i have a boss, or have ever loved authority but because i love the idea of walking away from what no longer fits. ‘tell my boss i quit. i’m going fckn dancing’. we all need to dance more, and let go a bit :)

i grew up with horses, so painting them is familiar, but i’m still building these the same way i always have- lots of layers, texture, and ofc pink

i only painted three to start!! 2 have already found their homes 💕’queen of hearts’ is still available, and more to come!!

and yes, prints are coming. thank you all for helping me pay my credit card bill and funding my dreams 🤠💗 by @kellypetersart
