The results are in: Quiet Valley Homecoming was a SUCCESS! 🍂❤️ It’s already been a week since our friends left the Ranch, and frankly… we miss y’all! Thank you to everyone who came out to spend a beautiful fall weekend with us at Quiet Valley Ranch. We had campfires, song circles, crafts, costumes, open mics, disc golf, a whole lot of chili, and exactly the kind of community-made magic we hoped Homecoming would become. Our first-ever Quiet Valley Homecoming Chili Cookoff was a blast, and the chili was DELICIOUS. Huge congratulations to our winners: 🌶️ Judges’ Choice – Meat Chili: MILF BRAND CHILI 🌶️ Judges’ Choice – Vegetarian Chili: Bite Me Vegetarian Chili 🏆 People’s Choice – Meat Chili: FanDAMNtastic Chili Company 🏆 People’s Choice – Vegetarian Chili: Bite Me Vegetarian Chili And an equally huge thank-you to every cook who entered, every camp that hosted something, everyone who shared a song or a meal, everyone who helped us keep things moving, and everyone who simply showed up ready to enjoy the Ranch together. We loved this weekend so much that we are absolutely planning to do it again next year, so go ahead and leave a little room on your fall calendar for another Quiet Valley Homecoming! For now, enjoy a few scenes from QVHC weekend and know that we’re already looking ahead to Kerrville Folk Festival 2027. Our 18-Day and Half-Fest Blind Presale begins next week, along with first-right-of-refusal RV site reservations, so stay tuned. We’ve got a whole new year of Kerrville ahead of us! 📸1. 🎂 We’re kicking off Quiet Valley Homecoming tomorrow with a birthday party for the Ranch Daddy himself! Help us celebrate our longtime friend and Ranch Facilities Manager, Polekat, who has spent years being one of those guys you can count on to show up with the right tool, the right fix, or a helping hand when something inevitably needs attention around Quiet Valley. We’ll fire up the grill for hot dogs and burgers, have some birthday cake, and raise a glass of orange soda to the Ranch’s resident Mr. Fix-It. Bring your own drinks, bring a chair,Polekat a very happy birthday at New Folk Camp from 5:30-8pm tomorrow evening! 🎉 And one important reminder before everybody starts pointing their vehicles toward Kerrville: ⏰ Please do not arrive at Quiet Valley Ranch before NOON tomorrow. That applies to everyone. We still have work to do in the morning to get the Ranch ready for Homecoming, and we need that time before the gates open. Once noon rolls around, come on in, get settled, and help us start the weekend by celebrating one of the people who keeps this place running. Happy birthday, PK! 🛠️🎂 by @kerrfolkfest
ARE YOU READY FOR THIS VIBE?! 🌙🎶🌳 Quiet Valley Homecoming starts THIS WEEK, and we cannot wait to hear music drifting through the campground again. Before you pack up and head for the Ranch, here are a few important Know Before You Go reminders: 🎟️ Everybody needs a ticket. Weekend passes are $35 online or $40 at the gate. There are no volunteer trades, comps, or guest passes for this event. We’ve kept the impact fee as low as possible so everyone can pitch in toward the basic costs of opening the Ranch for the weekend. ⏰ Please do not arrive before noon on Thursday, October 22. This applies to everyone. We need the morning to finish getting the Ranch ready for you! 🏕️ Come prepared to be fairly self-sufficient. Think state-park camping, Kerrville-style. Bring what you need to be comfortable for the weekend, take care of your camp, and look out for your neighbors. 🐕 The usual KFF campground rules still apply. That means no dogs, no canned music, and the same general expectations that help keep the campground peaceful, safe, and distinctly Kerrville. ⚡ Basic electricity is included for things like lights, fans, and charging devices. If you’re using a 30-amp connection or running A/C, we ask for a suggested $20 electrical donation at the office. 🌶️🎨🎤 And there’s plenty happening once you get here. Campground events, song circles, the Chili Cookoff and People’s Choice tasting, crafts, open mic, disc golf, late-night fun, and more will be happening throughout the weekend. Most importantly: bring your instruments, your camp chairs, your layers, your flashlight, and your willingness to wander toward whatever good songs and laughter you might hear coming through the trees. ✨ Mum’s the Word: Kerr-Style Mum Making ✨ One of the great Texas homecoming traditions deserves a Kerrville twist. Join Shannon Holt & Maggie Stevens for an afternoon of gloriously over-the-top mum making at Quiet Valley Homecoming! We’ll have salvaged materials, glue guns, and basic supplies on hand, and you’re encouraged to bring anything you’d like to add to your creation: ribbons, flowers, bells, charms, buttons, old jewelry, tchotchkes, trim, or whatever other treasures are lurking in your craft stash. Vintage and salvaged materials are especially welcome. No special crafting experience required. Just come ready to glue things to other things for artistic purposes! Please bring: any personal embellishments you want to use or share, plus your favorite glue gun and scissors if you have them. Supplies are shared and available while they last, so please arrive near the start time so we can walk everyone through the basics together. Kids under 15 must have a hands-on, engaged, participating parent or guardian present. Come make something delightfully excessive with us. ✂️🎀✨ by @kerrfolkfest
🌶️ OKAY, CAMP COOKS: WE NEED YOU!🌶️ The Quiet Valley Homecoming Chili Cookoff is happening Saturday, October 24, and we’ve got some serious braggin’ rights on the line… but we still need more pots in the competition. Right now we have seven entries total, and only ONE Vegetarian Chili entry. Surely the Kerrville campground can do better than that?! We’re looking for: 🔥 Your closely guarded family recipe 🔥 Your camp’s legendary chili 🔥 Your wildly experimental masterpiece 🔥 Your “I make the best vegetarian chili you’ve ever had” entry 🔥 Your excuse to finally show off that elaborate camp kitchen There are separate Meat Chili and Vegetarian Chili categories, with both Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice awards. Judges’ Choice winners in each category receive a pair of passes to any weekend of the 2027 Kerrville Folk Festival, plus embroidered winner aprons. People’s Choice winners take home embroidered aprons and, naturally, eternal campground braggin’ rights. Entry is $20 per chili, per team, and all chili is cooked on-site at Quiet Valley Ranch. And the People’s Choice tasting isn’t happening in some fenced-off cookoff arena. Tasters will follow a treasure map around the Ranch, visit participating camps, sample the goods, and vote for their favorites. Registration closes October 15 so we can get everyone onto the tasting map. If you’ve been thinking about entering, this is your sign. Happy Friday, y’all! 🍂 The Quiet Valley Homecoming campground schedule is starting to take shape, and we’re getting excited about what’s already on the books for October 23–25. So far, we’ve got: • Polekat’s Birthday Party (10/22) • Mum’s the Word: Kerr-Style Mum Making • Sunset Happy Hour Open Mic at Kerrtry • Dolly and Tim Double Feature Picture Show • QVR Disc Golf Safari • People’s Choice Chili Tasting • Chili Cookoff Winners Announcement • Kerrville Merch Fire Sale with everything $5–$10 to benefit the KFF Foundation Endowment And this is just the beginning! Quiet Valley Homecoming is meant to be camp-led and community-driven, so we want to know what YOU want to host. Two-step lessons? A kickball game? Sunday silly-hat brunch? A song circle? Storytelling hour? Craft project? Shared meal? Morning meditation? Something delightfully specific that could only happen at your camp? If you’ve got an idea that’s open to the Homecoming community, send us the who, what, when, and where and we’ll add it to the schedule online and at the Kerrtry Store. 🌶️ Time to fire up the camp kitchens and put your chili where your mouth is. Kerrville camps are known for some pretty elaborate outdoor kitchens, and this fall, it’s time to put them to the test! The Quiet Valley Chili Cookoff is happening Saturday, October 24, with separate Meat Chili and Vegetarian Chili categories. This won’t be a traditional cookoff arena. Teams will prepare and serve their entries from their own campsites, and tasters will follow a map around Quiet Valley Ranch to sample the goods and vote for their favorites. Compete for Judges’ Choice and People’s Choice honors, embroidered winner aprons, braggin’ rights, and, for our Judges’ Choice winners, a pair of passes to any weekend of the 2027 Kerrville Folk Festival! Entry is $20 per chili, per team. Teams may enter once in each category with a separate registration and fee for each entry. All chili must be prepared on-site, and you’ll want to bring more than a household crockpot if you plan to keep the tasting public happy. So gather your cooking crew, dust off the ol secret recipe, and show us what your camp kitchen can do. Registration, full rules, prizes, and food-safety requirements are available now at kerrvillefolkfestival.org/chili. 📸 @janicefrancissmith by @kerrfolkfest
Welcome Home, festival family! This October, join us for Quiet Valley Homecoming: A Weekend of Campfires, Community, and Kerrville Spirit. This is a campout, not a festival. No traditional lineup. No packed programming schedule. Just a laid-back weekend back at the Ranch with campfires, community, a few surprises, and plenty of room for our Kerrville friends to make their own fun. Camps are encouraged to host their own gatherings: hoot nights, song circles, art demos, shared meals, storytelling, creative workshops, or whatever Kerrville magic you’d like to bring. Let us know what you’re planning, and we’ll list community-led events on the webpage. 🌶️ We’ll also be hosting a Chili Cookoff with both meat and vegetarian categories. Details and sign-ups coming next week. Weekend passes are $35 per person for the whole weekend. This small impact fee helps cover the basic costs of having folks on the Ranch. Come camp, come reconnect, and come home to the Ranch this October. More info at kerrvillefolkfestival.org by @kerrfolkfest
