Next season will kick off with a 💥 as Heliane in Korngold's mystic opera "Das Wunder der Heliane" - on Oct 3rd 2026. it's about finding light and love in dark times. And death, of course.

I'm very excited about this challenge! Especially because I already know many of my wonderful colleagues: @tilmann.unger.tenor @bettinaranch #heikotrinsinger
And am very much looking forward to working with @andreasanguineticonductor and @elisabethstoeppler

I've worked @aalto_musiktheater_essen before and I've had a great time there! It's a beautiful theatre with one of the best acoustics I've sung in, a fantastic orchestra @essener_philharmoniker AND a functioning canteen (I like food, remember?)
What more does a soprano want? 😉

Last week's jump in at Wartburg with @staatstheatermeiningen reminded me, how much I love singing Elisabeth in Tannhäuser! ❤️

She has amazing strength of character, which @danieljohanssontenor got to feel in this production, @aalto_musiktheater_essen, with
@angenentdeirdre, both being fantastic colleagues as always 🥰

Good times with @netopiltom #paulgeorgdittrich

Who's afraid of mixing repertoire? It can be taxing, but I've always found it helpful! My current stretch is between Korngolds Heliane @aalto_musiktheater_essen and Donizettis Elisabetta @nationaltheater.mannheim.ntm 🤪💥

Korngold’s #Heliane in Essen was a truly cathartic process. Half of the time I didn’t know how I’d manage. One day I felt great, the next day I didn’t know what I was doing..
I kept going, page by page, scene by scene - And suddenly the role took over. A thing I hadn’t experienced in that way before.
As Elisabeth and I peeled away through layers or romance, we uncovered an exceptionally courageous, powerful woman, who ended up giving me, her interpreter, the strength to sing her. Amazing.. 🧡❤️‍🔥

So here’s a little photo story of what happens:

Photos by: Alvise Predieri

She gives her feet to a condemned revolutionary. Out of compassion. Next he’ll ask for her whole body and she shows it to him - yes, I have to strip. Another challenge, which proved much smaller than the musical one actually ☺️

She feels empathy for all humans who suffer and wants to save him and his message of happiness and joy for the oppressed people.

She gets caught naked and is put in front of a trial of 7 (!) judges.

She gets another 5 min alone with the prisoner, who kills himself, to save her. 🤷‍♀️

Her husband, the dictator tries to get the last bit of information out of the prisoner. Then he tells Heliane the only way for her to live is to resurrect him.

She thinks about it - and drinks some water..

She sees the oppressed people enter the court and realises she can’t help them, or herself.

She keeps trying to address them but they're all traumatized

The people treat her like a saint and express their expectations in her to save everyone.

She hears the voice of the dead revolutionary, giving her comfort, so she attempts the resurrection.
Come to Essen, to see if she succeeds..! 🧡 by @kessler.astrid

25/26 is done and I'm toast!
Truthfully, this season has been a total roller coaster and has tested me in ways I didn’t see coming. Lots of losses - lots of gains. Feeling a bit like a Phoenix, still half ashes..
But sitting here looking at these photos, I’m really grateful for all the amazing experiences and emotions I got to go through, good or bad. They make life worth living. I’m forever grateful to @sharonempowers and everyone in the group for their support! 🩷
