Yesterday was a reminder of what meaningful collaboration looks like when government, development partners, and communities come together to invest in young people. 💚

I attended the close-out ceremony of the Adolescent 360 Health and Economic Empowerment Project (A360 HEEP), organised by the Society for Family Health in collaboration with the Rivers State Government, NNPC Limited, TotalEnergies, and other partners.

From the community football competition to the exhibition of products made by adolescent girls, it was lovely seeing adolescent health, participation, and economic empowerment take centre stage.

Glad to have been part of the experience with Gemhub Initiative. Here’s to more intentional collaborations that put adolescents at the heart of the work we do! ❤️

So many words that capture the essence of my existence, but ETHEREAL will always be at the forefront. Khaleela is a balanced mix of every feature that completes a person, I am my favorite person, every single year I keep discovering parts of me that leave myself and others starstruck….✨✨

I love myself and I know that I have so much to unfold and display, and because I am iconic, the world will know my name.

Happy baidayyyyyy to meeeee!!💃🏽💃🏽💃🏽🥰

Today’s the International Day of the Girl Child 2026.

Option 1: Strong and advocacy-focused

A girl’s childhood should never be the price she pays for tradition, poverty or society’s expectations.

Child marriage is a dastardly practice that has no place in a society that claims to value the rights, dignity and future of its children. Yet, despite the progress we have made, it continues to thrive, cutting short childhoods, disrupting education and denying girls the opportunity to decide who they want to become.

Ending child marriage requires more than outrage. It requires lawmakers who strengthen and enforce protective laws, parents who protect rather than surrender their daughters’ futures, and communities willing to challenge harmful norms instead of defending them in the name of culture.

We are making progress, and that gives us reason to hope. But progress must not become an excuse for complacency. Every girl deserves to grow, learn, dream and make choices about her future.

On this International Day of the Girl Child, let us move beyond celebration to action. Protect her childhood. Defend her rights. Invest in her future.

There’s a real danger in hearing half a story and immediately forming a complete opinion. Context matters, and sometimes the part you didn’t hear is the part that changes everything. Before you judge, ask for the whole story.
