After 7 days of shooting total — with an $8,000 shooting budget ($5,000 crowdfunded!), 4 locations, and a roughly 40 person crew — Culture Shock has officially wrapped production!

Our founder and Culture Shock Executive producer, Anya Dillard, puts pen to paper to share the news and offer her (and her crew’s) firsthand reflections on the project’s journey.

Read her full reflection — and hear from the team who made the impossible possible — at the link in bio. 🖤

it’s never gonna feel real that I get to perform for a living… first leg down, so much more to come. by @khalillouigene

It feels overdue for me to express what it truly means to have created and brought a TV show pilot to life. The love, respect, and support poured into this project has been beyond anything I could’ve imagined.

Thank you to everyone who has ever been involved with Culture Shock from every single person who donated on Seed&Spark, to my incredible crew and production team, to the best cast anyone could ever ask for.

This experience has been a journey I couldn’t replicate even if I tried… and the wildest part is, we’re not even done yet.

Onto post-production and to so many more ideas, stories, and worlds to share. by @khalillouigene

Culture Shock is officially GREENLIT!!!

I can’t even begin to explain how grateful I am in this moment. What started as a small mock shoot for an unfinished pilot has now become a full production that’s on its way and it’s all because of this beautiful community that believed in me, believed in this story, and gave so selflessly to bring it to life.

To everyone who donated, shared, encouraged, or simply spoke life into this project thank you. Your support means the world.

To my incredible team:
🤎 Anya Dillard – the most amazing Executive Producer who has poured so much vision and energy into making this dream real.
🤎 Myles Haywood – my producer and friend who’s been by my side from day one, through every stage of this journey.
🤎 Donovan Lee, Zitlali Marcial, Edmillie Binet, & Dennis Velasco – my brilliant co-creator, and to all of our writers who have worked tirelessly to build a world that feels honest, hilarious, and necessary.

Culture Shock was born out of a need for people our age, especially young actors who took that big leap and invested so much in their craft to finally see themselves represented. I wanted every artist who feels overlooked to know: we see you, we value you, and your work matters.

Fast forward a year later, our crew has grown, our belief in this project has skyrocketed, and the dream is becoming real. I’m so honored to give back now by creating a piece of work that all of you will laugh with, connect to, and hopefully feel seen in.

From the bottom of my heart thank you. The journey is just getting started, and I promise it’s going to be worth it. 🧡❤️💚💙💜 by @khalillouigene

Calling it a blessing doesn’t even begin to capture what this opportunity has meant to me. I’m beyond grateful to have had the honor of closing out the 30th anniversary of STOMP—an experience that still feels surreal. To be able to live out my dreams performing, traveling, and connecting with like-minded artists has been everything I’ve ever hoped for.

What made it even more special was sharing the journey with my brother @_isaiah_robinson, who’s been by my side since day one.

To everyone who’s supported me.. my friends, family, mentors, teachers, and the incredibly gifted cast and crew of STOMP who I now consider family thank you. Your encouragement, patience, and love have meant the world to me.
