Really looking forward to speaking on a panel at @risingtidefestival during the @uksurfskateexpo in a couple of weeks alongside @the_onearmedsurfer and @nick.knowles hosted by @kieran_hill 🏄‍♂️

We’ll be talking about how surfing and community support men’s mental health, a topic I’m passionate about.

A few years ago I was mostly surfing on my own. I loved being in the ocean, but I knew how much better it was when it was shared with other people. At the same time, I was involved in men’s groups back home and saw the impact that genuine connection can have on someone’s wellbeing.

That’s what led me to start @mansurfclub.

Since then we’ve connected over 1,000+ men in our community across the UK through surfing, meet-ups and weekends away. Seeing friendships form and guys realise they don’t have to do life alone has been one of the most rewarding things I’ve ever been part of.

I’m really looking forward to sharing and hearing the other panelists.

Reminded myself of how lucky I am to live and work in a place like Cornwall this morning 🙏🏼

I recently got stuck in the hamster wheel of constant focus on the things I’m involved with - my role at Cornish Gems, the work I do with Rising Tide Festival, United Cornwall FC, and AquaCulture…

It was starting to feel a bit, manic 😆

This weekend I realised that because of the amount of time I’m putting into those things, I forgot that my inner self and soul needs time and attention as well.

So, it started with a run yesterday afternoon, and today took the form of a solo dip in the sea before work.

It was good to dust off the ol’ host gear last Friday night in support of Newquay Orchard’s screening of Ocean 🌊

Still learning how to actually do this well, but you gotta start somewhere ✌🏼

Yes, the imposter syndrome goes into overdrive before and during the moment I do these.

Yes, I’m nervous all day, through the talk, and only relax when it’s done.

No, I don’t know how I started getting into this 🤣

Considering I used to HATE speaking in front of people and giving presentations, I’ve really tried hard over the last couple of years to get out of my comfort zone… and slowly but surely, I think I’m getting the hang of this public speaking malarkey 😆

Although the panellists and audience are the best judges of that… 🤪

🎶 Take Me Home United Road…

What an absolute rollercoaster of emotions yesterday was 🤪

Getting back to Old Trafford after 20 years was a surreal and special experience - especially going there with Dad, Ryan and @chelseaparkerrr (only took 11 years to get Chels to a watch a full United game with me) 😂

It would have been perfect to walk away with 3 points, but we came for entertainment and we definitely got that!

The feeling of being stood in the stands, singing along to the chants, and celebrating the goals was incredible 🙌🏼

Unfortunately, being a @manchesterunited fan means this might be the closest I get to celebrating a cup this year...

Oh well! You could argue that this is more important anyway, and you’re damn right I’ll be telling myself that 😆

Joking aside, we recently launched our collaboration with @circularandco and isn’t it gorgeous!? The outer layer is made from our Traceable Marine Plastic, which is 100% recycled fishing gear that’s been collected from the UK coastline and processed in the UK as well.

Our Traceable Marine Plastic has been paired with their awesome design and ethos to create a fantastic and functional product, built to last a lifetime of adventures (or coffees) 🙌🏼

Very exciting to see these flying off the shelves 🌟

Are you looking for a way to connect with people who love football and want to play for fun? ⚽️

Well, I answered yes to that question a couple of years ago and luckily at that time, Jack Greaves had just started United Cornwall FC.

Fast forward to now and I’m so proud to be a part of this stellar community! As part of the Project Officer team and Session Lead group we have, we’re facilitating a space for people to connect, build friendships and get healthier.

Last week was a real showcase of what our group is all about when we hosted a friendly match between our Newquay group and the local RNLI Lifeguards who work on Newquay beaches.

Lots of fun. Lots of laughs. Lots of positivity. 🌟
