Before we try to change the breath, we can learn to listen to it. Our breathing is influenced by stress, posture, activity, and habit. Yet the breath is also something we can work with intentionally. Gentle, comfortable, breathing can support relaxation, while greater awareness helps us recognize our patterns rather than automatically repeating them. This is one of the foundations of pranayama: not forcing, but observing; not striving, but developing understanding. Over time, small moments of intentional practice can become part of how we care for ourselves and respond to the demands of daily life. On October 24, will explore these ideas more deeply at Ananda Ashram in “The Yoga of Breath: Pranayama as a Pathway to Awareness.” Come curious. Leave with a deeper understanding of the breath. We hear a lot about the power of the breath. But what happens when we move beyond the basics and truly dive into the art and science of pranayama? Beyond simply breathing deeply, pranayama invites us to explore how we breathe, why different techniques matter, and how a more intentional relationship with the breath can influence the way we experience ourselves and the world around us. Join me at Ananda Ashram Saturday, October 24 8:30am-5:30pm ✨The Yoga of Breath: Pranayama as a Pathway to Awareness✨ Whether you’re a yoga teacher, wellness professional, or simply curious about the breath, this is an opportunity to go deeper. “I’m trying to understand what real Karma Yoga is all about, what real Seva is about. That is, the kind of service, which is rooted in devotional Yoga. Which is the kind of service where you are the breath of God. Where you are serving out of the collective compassionate heart. Where it isn’t me doing it for you, it is that I have surrendered into that force in the universe which heals and I just part of the healing thing.” ~Ram Dass 🌸🌺🌸 On this Guru Purnima, under the light of the full moon, I’ve been reflecting on what these past three months have been teaching me. Many of you have asked where I’ve been or what life on an Ashram is really like. While there have been plenty of hours spent meditating and chanting, the deepest practice has been something much simpler. I’ve been reminded, over and over again, that spiritual life isn’t separate from ordinary life. It’s living in community. Sharing meals and responsibilitie. Sweeping floors that will need sweeping again tomorrow. Being asked to do things you wouldn’t necessarily choose. Showing up anyway, with as much presence, love, and humility as you can. It’s about accepting imperfection in ourselves and others. I’ve come to see that Seva (selfless service) isn’t reserved for an ashram. It isn’t a place we go or a role we play. It’s a way of meeting each moment with an open heart. It’s the quiet willingness to offer ourselves for the benefit of others without needing recognition. Easier said than done, but that’s why it’s called practice. Today I’m grateful for my teachers, the communities, and the ordinary moments that remind us to care for one another through service and love. ”Work is worship. Without work, we cannot experience the Creator.” ~ Sri Brahmaananda Sarasvati by @kikayoga
