“Even When He Is Silent” by Kim André Arnesen is simply one of the best choral pieces ever written.
Performed here by the Grand Choir of the Collegium Musicum Berlin under Donka Miteva, this piece builds from almost nothing into something completely overwhelming, and it’s genuinely hard not to be moved by it.

If you want pieces like this in your feed daily, @dailychoirs is the place to be.
What’s the most emotional time you’ve ever listened to this piece?

My STABAT MATER in Szolnok, Hungary this Thursday. 🇭🇺 by @kimarnesenmusic

My STABAT MATER in Póvoa de Varzim, Portugal tonight and on April 1. 🕯️🙏 by @kimarnesenmusic

Two upcoming performances of my STABAT MATER in the city of Ghent, Belgium, during Easter.

Organized by Arte Musicale and conducted by Steve De Veirman. by @kimarnesenmusic

My arrangement of the Norwegian-Danish Christmas carol LOVELY IS THE DARK BLUE SKY (Deilig er den himmel blå).

Usually sung more up-tempo and joyful, I wanted to capture the more dreamy and wondrous atmosphere to find new aspects in Grundtvig's lyrics.

Performed by the Boosey & Hawkes Singers. by @kimarnesenmusic

CRADLE HYMN was written for Nidarosdomens Jentekor and their former conductor Anita Brevik.

Here from the Emmy Award-winning TV production "Christmas in Norway", featuring a Quartet from Trondheimsolistene and Maria Næss (piano).

I WILL LIGHT CANDLES THIS CHRISTMAS

Perhaps something for your Christmas concerts next year? A lovely new review from Choir & Organ:

"If you are looking for something a bit different but still with plenty of audience appeal for concerts, then perhaps turn to the frozen north and Nordic Christmas (SATB with div & pno; Boosey & Hawkes; ISMN 9790060151484). This compilation features seven well-crafted arrangements of carols from Norway, Sweden and Denmark. Kim André Arnesen delivers a variety of emotions from the boisterous "O Yule, full of gladness" to the rich and dreamy "Lovely is the dark blue sky". Good quality English lyrics are available as an alternative to the original language. All the pieces work well with piano accompaniment or can be performed with strings, percussion, piano and trumpet. There is much divisi but nothing too complex and always with good voice leading. An SSAA alternative is available too." by @kimarnesenmusic

🎻 My heart is full after this week's world premiere of my Hardanger Fiddle Concerto. Above all from the musical collaboration, and the love and care that was poured into the performance at the highest level.

My deepest thanks to Ragnhild Hemsing, Adam Hickox, and Trondheim Symfoniorkester for a breathtaking, emotional, and energetic performance.

A special thanks to Ragnhild for initiating the commission in the first place. Your belief and invitation was such an inspiration, and has truly developed new ways of writing music for me.

And to all who came and gave such a warm reception, thank you! by @kimarnesenmusic
