KinAct, seen through the lens of Mario Testino. Founded by Congolese artist Eddy Ekete Mombesa, KinAct transforms the discarded matter of Kinshasa ,plastic bottles, cans, tyres, wires and fragments of everyday life into extraordinary living sculptures, performances and interventions. Mario Testino photographed the collective in Kinshasa in 2023 as part of A Beautiful World, capturing the astonishing forms, materials and personalities that make up the KinAct universe. Our own collaboration with KinAct began with their 2022 residency at Nyege Nyege HQ in Kampala, where the collective entered the studio and transformed costumes, tools and discarded materials into instruments and sound. The resulting album, Kinshasa in Action, was released on Nyege Nyege Tapes alongside a photo zine documenting the wider visual and sculptural world around the project. @kinact_festival — 10 YEARS: ART HAS NO BORDERS After ten years of creativity and performance, @eddy_ekete invites art and performance lovers to join him in carrying a symbolic letter to the Ministry of Culture and Arts. On the boulevard, KinAct showed that art has no borders. This initiative reflects discipline, commitment and the power of an artistic vision that deserves to be heard and recognized. The Ministry of Culture and Arts opened its doors to receive this letter with respect. Because Eddy Ekete deserves more than recognition — he deserves to have his work and vision truly valued. Every outfit made from plastic bottles and waste tells a story. Every bottle transformed into art becomes an act of resistance against pollution. KinAct reminds us that art can raise awareness, bring people together and transform the way we see our environment. @eddy_ekete @ifhalledelagombe @eunic_rdc @princeclausfund Photographer @aganzejahkadj 🇨🇩🇨🇩📷📷 by @kinact_festival

🇨🇩 📸 @aganzejahkadj #KinAct10 #KinAct2026 #JoyceKaj #Goma #CultureCongolaise NouvelleGeneration MusiqueCongolaise KinshasaEnAction RD by @kinact_festival
