Picked up some Kiwi Inks' Treasures of Atlantis at the SF pen show Friday and I'm OBSESSED. Here's some footage from a microscopy sesh where I watched it dry on clearly not-fancy Staples Notebook paper, followed by Tomoe River. Checked out some of the structure afterwards. 🔬: Amscope ME580, epi-illumination with crossed polars 📸: Pixel 9 pro 🎵: Vitamin String Quartet: Blood Red Summer (Coheed cover that I couldn't find here on IG) #sfpenshow2026 #kiwiinks #microscopy #fountainpenink #vitaminstringquartet by @kiwi_inks
✨ GIVEAWAY ✨ With only two weeks to go until the San Francisco International Pen Show, I’m teaming up with some of my favorite brands to bring a little extra joy to my illustrated journaling workshops! 😊Simply follow @zuzu.art.studio and tag a friend you’d love to join you for a chance to win an Illustrated Journaling Starter Kit AND a ticket to one of my workshops on August 28 or 29 at the fun show! @sfpenshow Teaching has always been a way for me to reflect on my own creative practice and to learn from the struggles I’ve had as a self-taught illustrator. I love seeing people’s faces light up every time we practice making art with hands, finding joy in observing everyday life, and turning it into playful little visuals. I’m so grateful for the sf stationery and pen show communities that have given me a place to share that. And most importantly, it takes a village to support a teacher! 💛 Let’s show some love to our wonderful giveaway sponsors who also provide cool supplies for my class participants to enjoy-thank you!: @kiwi_inks @blick_sfmarket @blickartmaterials @everydayexplorersco @kingjim.global_official @kingjimusa More intro posts and surprises are cooking! 👀 Happy creating! 💛Zuzu #illustratedjournaling #createwithblick #sfpenshow2026 #thefunshow #bayareaevents by @kiwi_inks
🐈🐦Who says birds and cats can’t get along? My little crew seems to be doing just fine:3 Happy August, friends! Summer always feels refreshing to me: sunny mornings, vibrant trees, grocery runs to a new Japanese market, and finally enough space to make art at my own pace. After months of bouncing between commissions and moving, it feels so good to get back into the flow, follow my curiosity, and draw without a deadline again. This is the kind of energy I want more of this month! i made this little journaling page to remind myself of all the fun stuff east bay offers, with my first bottle of kiwi ink from @sfpenshow back in 2023. Still smells like green tea after three years! Shoutout to @kiwi_inks for that kind of craftsmanship, no kidding. At my illustrated journaling workshops on August 28 and 29, we will keep drawing simple, fun, and pressure-free. If you’ve been wanting an easier way to stay creative and capture daily wonders, registration is now open. I’d love to chillax and draw with you. 🍃RSVP link in bio: @zuzu.art.studio Happy creating! My unpopular opinion: you don’t always need a pencil sketch before you paint. 😅 This little page was inspired by photos I took in the redwoods and took about 20 minutes from start to finish. Most of the time, I skip the pencil sketch and jump straight into color and composition just to capture how I feel at the moment. Sketchbooking is definitely not about being precise, I just love how quick, loose, and forgiving gouache can be! Not saying anything wrong with watercolor- if you struggle with it, in stead of feeling bad about yourself but just switch to a different medium and see what happens:) When was the last time you walked through the woods and really took it all in? If you’d like to sketchbooking together, I’m hosting a lovely workshop at @societyofthumbs this Saturday. If you haven't heard, we are running an ink fundraiser for leukemia patients! 100% of the profits go to the leukemia and limphoma society. The ink is named after a fellow fountain pen lover who unfortunately has passed away from said illness. In his memory, we hope that we can raise enough to save someone else's life. #fountainpenink #fountainpen #fountainpens #ink #leukemia #fundraiser #charity #kiwiinks by @kiwi_inks
