Last night was everything I could have hoped it to be and more. Thank you to @granelglobal for sponsoring my food, @wonkypower for the beautiful venue and amazing staff, my parents (obviously) for all their love and support (and candy, and prep help, and these photos and videos my dad took), @blackie.allcapswithspaces and @lagrimas.htx for your transcendental art. To @culturequeer and @unclecrizzle for the promotional support, and to @deliriousdestruction for the tech support. And of course, to @spoonersnofun for continuing to support and inspire young black and brown punks in scenes across the globe. Your passion and dedication to this art form cannot be appreciated enough and I thank you for being a North Star to me for the last 25 years. To any and all that came out last night, thank you from the bottom of my old bay seasoned heart. I love you, I’m here for you, I respect and admire you. And I mean it. by @knives_in_water

HOUSTON. Today’s the day. Film, music, food, books, and friends both old and new. This is my first KIW presents event and I hope to see you there. #LYMI by @knives_in_water

Thank you @unclecrizzle for the Chron write up, available now online and in print Friday. We hope to see you Friday @wonkypower for @lagrimas.htx at 730, followed by a screening of AfroPunk, a presentation by director @spoonersnofun and an unmissable performance by @blackie.allcapswithspaces. @gcccomics will be in the building with a BIPOC comics set up and there will be free food by yours truly, sponsored by @granelglobal. by @knives_in_water

I took this video of @blackie.allcapswithspaces ten entire years ago. Come see the legend in action Friday @wonkypower following a performance by @lagrimas.htx and a screening of AfroPunk and presentation by its director @spoonersnofun. Free food by yours truly. Party starts at 7PM by @knives_in_water

The main event is the AfroPunk screening @wonkypower on Friday but there are more than enough ways to grab some KIW this week. See you out there and as always, #LYMI by @knives_in_water

Should have posted this BEFORE I served it to advertise, but yesterday I got to do one of my favorite dishes, the Broadway Mussels at Dan Electro’s. Thanks to everyone that ordered it, I hope to do it more often. #LYMI by @knives_in_water
