Greece and Konitsa in particular, taught me that sustainable tourism development isn’t just about the destination; it’s deeply rooted in the history of the landscape and the genius loci (the spirit of the place) found in the wisdom of its local community. Building an ecotourism program within the Vikos-Aoos Geopark in such a short time wasn’t easy, especially with complex stakeholder dynamics.

But the most profound lesson came from our group of more than 20 people. Coming from completely different backgrounds like Geology, Biology, Landscape Architecture, Local Tourism, Microbiology, and Agriculture, we bridged our fields into 4 distinct teams to work toward one shared goal: a more sustainable future for Konitsa, integrating landscape, culture, and economy.

Beyond the academics, the literal ups and downs of hiking tested us. Reaching our physical limits showed us how each person coped, stripping away our differences and bringing us incredibly close. Sharing our cultures and celebrating Midsommar together (shoutout to my Swedish friends🥂😘🥰) made the bond even deeper.

When we were pushed to our limits and exhausted out there in nature, it really forces me to just focus entirely on my own breath, my footing, and my goals.

This past week has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you to everyone in these photos (and those who aren’t), your unique characters taught me so much in the name of science and learning. Huge thanks to Mas Ilyas @illyasdede for introducing me to this organization (may all your kindness return to you multiplied). And finally, cheers to myself for being willing to learn, reflect, and grow.

A little story of vernacular knowledge that I wish I know earlier....

Many thanks I would say to Lucia and Chiara, for all the conversation we had during our dinner, it was really meaningful. A sentence that has always stuck with me is: Always question what you see or and hear, for truth is rarely absolute until we define it as such. Also, what are the sustainable behaviors that nobody can not see in you?

see you in another Kokom Bercerita! Have a nice day everyone! semoga seluruh kemudahan menyertai langkah kita semua!❤️✨

After almost two months of detoxing from social media, I finally feel grounded enough to share a small part of my journey, through Wageningen, the Netherlands, and beyond.

At the beginning, I spoke with Chelsea, my soul sister in the Netherlands, about how my journey was driven by a deep search for questions and answers, about our ancestors, their connections in the past, the present, and the future. The first two months were harsh and challenging. I was still adapting to life in the Global North, which feels deeply different from what I carry within me from the Global South. At times, I felt lost, exhausted, and unsure.

But slowly, this country shifted my perspective. It guided me back to the values I had carried from far away. Reminding me why I left, and how my roots continue to guide my path, no matter how far I go. It strengthened my grit, deepened my purpose, and reshaped my understanding of meaning. This journey of searching for values, goals, and purpose continues. Now, what I have started in Italy must be nurtured, lived, and carried forward into another meaningful chapter of my life.

This country also taught me how to sit peacefully with my inner voices, to manage life more consciously, and to become more selective choosing which flowers I truly need to care for in my inner garden (as Chelsea and I often reflected together).

Special thanks to the people behind this journey. Though it was only a few months and only a few souls, the connections were deeply real and meaningful.

My deepest gratitude to my family, especially my dad and mom, for their endless love, prayers, and encouragement during the hardest days. To my communities in Indonesia, who remain my roots and my reason. And finally, to myself, for not giving up, for growing stronger, and for learning to hold firmer boundaries with compassion.

Here’s to many more journeys, lessons, and stories ahead🥂💛
Happy New Year 2026❤️ wishing everyone a meaningful year, in every single day🫶🏻

Big thanks to Franco and Gabriela for welcoming us into their beautiful home! Thank you for your kindness and generosity, your hospitality was beyond words. Special thanks to Gabriela for the tasty and appetising Tuscan meals for breakfast and dinner, super delicious!

And most importantly, I learned that connecting with locals to truly understand their way of life is deeply inspiring, it can help us be more mindful and wise, and remind us to stay grounded after witnessing the world’s many diversities, how vast it is, and how small we are as human beings.

Last but not least, I would love to come back many times to this place, to learn more from the nature, from Franco, and from Gabriela. It’s truly worth a visit, guys!

Big thanks to Caterina’s family for everything you gave to me! Thank you for inviting me to your beautiful place, for letting me stay, learn, and uncover meaningful stories behind my journey here in Italy! I truly loved our family conversations during lunch and dinner! Thank you for the warmth, the family love, and all the support!

Can’t wait to experience every new moment ahead in the future!
See you in another journeys! 😆👊🏻🤍

Semoga kedepannya langkah kaki ini mampu membawa pariwisata Indonesia mengudara, I wish😁🤞🏻 and cheers for the happy new year 2025! Semoga seluruh langkah kita dipermudah🥂🤍🤍

This beautiful sceneries was captured in the journey of @ridgeadventure in Java! Would like to big thanks to local community in Tengger Pak Kariadi and team for your dedication to Tengger culture and environment preservation, Pak Purna in Desa Wisata Poncokusumo for your dedication to develop responsible tourism there, and for the lovely moments with the benevolent person of Ridge Adventure group: Henzo and friends🙌🫰🏻, and also thanks to my Jaring Jiwa team!🥰🫶🏻 by @komangindaahs

It’s not a West Virginia… but it’s an East Java Indonesia!

Last week, I had so much fun with this girl! She gave me understandings and new perspectives about sustainable tourism. During our journey last week, we went to the local community in Malang City, Poncokusumo Village, Bromo-Tengger Villages, and Ngawonggo. From her, I got a deeper comprehension of how to be a responsible traveler through a small things such as accepting and involving in the local community’s ways of life.

And it could be start by respecting the locals, preserving the culture of the tribes, and responsible for the environment nearby aka “Jangan Nyampah Sembarangan😊”. It was a valuable experiences. Terima Kasih banyak Amanda for your contributions to the local community in Poncokusumo, Tengger Tribe, and Malang Raya!

Also, by this, I’ve realised that I’m so grateful for running Jaring Jiwa so far to spread more awareness about the concerns and urgency of mass tourism impacts in Indonesia. Hence, trough our values and objectives goals we hope that it can contribute to developing and strengthening responsible tourism for the local communities throughout Indonesia🥰💛🫶🏻 by @komangindaahs
