Another July post - afternoon making macarons with mum. Half pistachio and half orange. So much sugar…explains why I like them :) by @kraichu
First time at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in July! Glorious weather for it and so many cool cars and things to see and do. by @kraichu
Central Europe Trip Part 3 - Finished with a Viennese Whirl… by @kraichu
Central Europe Trip Part 2 - A couple of hours on the train and I was in Bratislava. Just a one-night stop here as it’s a pretty compact city, particularly the historical old town area. by @kraichu
Central Europe Trip Part 1 - Finally got back to Budapest this summer, 12 years after a flying work visit. Really enjoyed the city - lots of history, lots of grand old buildings and good food. Need to go back in the winter sometime to enjoy the thermal baths! by @kraichu
Today marks the launch of my new hockey coaching podcast that I’ve been working on over the summer! It’s been hard work and it’s far from perfect, but also I’ve learnt loads about the tech, the skills needed for good podcasting and got loads of new insights from the guests I’ve interviewed for Season 1. As you probably know, anyone can “broadcast” these days. And we all have something to share. But I decided early on that if something was worth doing, it was worth doing well. So I went all-in on editing, formatting etc etc and now I’m pretty happy with the first batch of content that’ll drop over the coming weeks. Please subscribe, follow, like, give 5 stars etc. You can find it on YouTube, Spotify, Apple Podcasts etc. Even if you’re not a hockey person there should be some useful takeaways on leadership as the season progresses. Head to beacons.ai/beaconhockey for the links. by @kraichu
Hot pot in Alishan Dinner in Alishan (forgotten what the stuff on the right was but was interesting) Dinner in a restaurant at the street market in Taichung Veggie noodle place in Ximending, Taipei Sides from same veggie place - tofu and mushrooms Tea and chocolate ice cream at Sun Moon Lake Dinner at Din Tai Fung 101 had to be takeaway! One of the food highlights of the trip! Thin pancake with crushed peanuts, coriander, ice cream and then rolled! Some of the process Giant mushrooms with nice flavours Sweet potato balls (hollow so quite light) at Taipei food market Stinky tofu! It does smell but tastes good Giant flame! Breakfast buffet food in Alishan Buns in a shop window Kind of like a fried bread type thing More tofu, this time deep fried Talking of stinky…durian fruit! Westernised salad in Tainan Noodle soup with tofu in Kaifeng, China. Was good but couldn’t help but splash my new white t shirt before finishing 😆 by @kraichu
At the end of the Taiwan trip and due to me not paying attention to where my flight was transiting, we made the most of the long layover by venturing out into actual China. In the ancient city of Kaifeng there’s a recreation of a historic painting of a festival day there, called Millennium City Park. And there’s a nightly show there too. Was a fun afternoon and evening. by @kraichu
Spent 36 hours back in Taipei before heading home. Views of Taipei 101 from Elephant Mountain, a bit of My Neighbour Totoro merch at a department store and a few highlights from a 2 Michelin starred dinner at @molinodeurdaniz_taiwan to keep Amex happy 😆 by @kraichu
Another one from Taiwan. Next day in Kaohsiung, a very arty/cool city just south of Tainan. by @kraichu
Next up in Taiwan was the start of my solo travelling, with 36 hours in Tainan, the old capital. A huge number of temples but also busy night markets, a historic fort, and lots of modern and internationally inspired food and beverage offerings. by @kraichu
Alishan sunrise! The sea of clouds in the valley combined with the dramatic skies were truly worth the 4am alarm! The highlight of the trip for me, this deserved its own post. by @kraichu
