A beautiful day in Adams, Tennessee. by @kswh09
Day 4: Another jeep tour, this time to the west side of the island. Because this is a volcanic island, lava rock is everywhere. We saw the twin lakes and toured a pineapple plantation. The pineapples are grown inside greenhouses because the island temp doesn’t get hot enough for growing outdoors. Had some delicious pineapple sorbet. Purchased some pineapple jam made on the island for our neighbors, but….I put it in my carry-on luggage so airport security through it out! That was hard to watch. After the tour we walked around town some more before calling it a night. by @kswh09
Day 2: We took a jeep tour to the Nordeste region. Saw gorgeous views of the valley below and craters from volcanoes. Met a sweet woman Monica and her daughter and granddaughter. Monica was a model in her 20s and represented Massachusetts in the Miss America pageant in 1979. She was in the top 12. We became friends and may take a cruise together down the road 🙂. Our tour guide took us to a restaurant that had three items on the buffet that were not fish. So I got to eat. Took off-roads in some areas which were as fun as an amusement park. by @kswh09
We had a wonderful trip to Sao Miguel Island in the Azores (Portugal). We left Monday morning for an early flight to New York City. Flew out to Sao Miguel that night around 9 PM and arrived at 6:30 AM their time. The first day was sort of a blur between day 1 and 2. Since it was too early to check into the hotel, we walked around town most of the day and then into the evening after checking in. Had a hard time finding food I liked around the hotel because just about everything was fish and seafood 🤢. Was dying for a glass of iced tea about this time 🙂. by @kswh09

The Merom Bluff overlooks the Wabash River. On the other side is Illinois. In the distance, you can see the oil refinery in Robinson, Illinois where my grandfather (that I never met) worked. Long ago a ferry provided transportation from one side to the other. I can visualize my dad as a little boy running around the green grass in the summer. As kids, we played on the bluff and went to the annual Chautauqua festival where delicious chicken and corn were served. So many memories were made here. I still love to visit. by @kswh09
Just got back from a trip to Charleston. We had a great time and perfect weather. Then we visited our youngest son and family in Greenville. Always good to be with family! by @kswh09
