POSTS STORIES REELS

A few years ago I was working at a house cleaning job (which btw i loved) when we got a call from our manager about a sync license for an old song of ours called Sailor & Siren, which we wrote together in 2014, recorded at Bear Creek Studio with collaborator and pal Jerry Streeter, and released on an EP called Southern Winters as a companion to our second full-length album. We knew basically nothing about the movie except that it was an indie starring Matthew McConaughey.

In the fall of 2024 the director Andrew Patterson asked me to come into the studio in LA to track vocals for the new arrangement of the song and while I was there I recorded for a few other scenes too, watching the rough cuts play from the booth. Every shot was warm and clear, a montage lit by setting suns on fields and lamps in wood paneled living rooms.

The final track is a collaboration between us, Ben Hardesty, Andrew Patterson, Jerry Streeter, Blake Neely, and T Bone Burnett (along with many others)

The Rivals of Amziah King and its soundtrack are both out now, it’s really beautiful and we’re proud to be part of it 🐝
