The cosmos has a language. This winter, come learn to speak its foundations. My next 40 Day Meditation Course: The Language of the Cosmos focuses on the fundamentals of Vedic Astrology. Traditionally known as Jyotisa - Vedic, or Sidereal Astrology contains beautiful myth and stories to support the learning and understanding of this sacred branch of the Vedas. This is a 6 week course meeting 2x a week livestream. We’ll work with the building blocks of Vedic Astrology: Signs (Rasis), Houses (Bhavas), and Planets (Grahas). Alongside this study, we will practice Kundalini Kriya Yoga, chant Mantra and work with the wonderful introductory text, Light on Life: An Introduction to the Astrology of India, Hart de Fouw & Svoboda. Registration is open, go to: Karalooney.com/course-registration. (Link in bio under 40 Day Meditation Journeys) We begin on Wednesday 12/2 and meet 2x a week through Sunday 1/10. I’m excited to share this beautiful wisdom! #jyotish #vedicastrology #kriya #meditationcommunity #kundalini by @kundalooney
Join me at Santosha Wellness in Big Sky for a special evening of sound healing and gentle meditation during Pitru Paksha, the sacred period in the Yogic tradition dedicated to honoring and remembering our ancestors. Traditionally, Pitru Paksha is understood as a time when the boundary between the world of the living and the departed becomes more permeable—a sacred opportunity to remember those who came before us, receive their blessings, and bring healing and awareness to our ancestral lineage. Through the resonant tones, meditation, and intentional reflection, we’ll create space to honor our roots, acknowledge the lives and wisdom that came before us, and connect with the deeper lineage we carry within us. Come as you are. Bring an open heart, a willingness to listen, and perhaps someone from your lineage you’d like to remember. Santosha Wellness • Big Sky Wednesday 9/30 @ 7:30–8:45 PM All are welcome. #PitruPaksha #SoundHealing #SoundBath #BigSkyMontana #santoshawellness by @kundalooney
Our Mt. Shasta Retreat 2026 was a truly heartfelt experience. 💛 We laughed, practiced yoga, meditated, chanted, hiked, relaxed in the sauna, swam in refreshing mountain waters, drank from natural springs, shared deeply nourishing macrobiotic meals, and, most importantly, connected—with ourselves, each other, and the beauty of nature. Taking time away to restore, reconnect, and turn inward is always a worthwhile gift. There is something deeply healing about stepping into the woods, slowing down, and remembering what matters most. Stay tuned for details about our 2027 retreat—we can’t wait to gather again! 40 DAY MEDITATION JOURNEY: Wisdom of The Ages, Explore The World’s Great Wisdom Traditions What can the wisdom of the ages teach us about how to live? For thousands of years, across cultures and continents, humanity’s great wisdom traditions have explored some of life’s most enduring questions: Who am I? What is truth? Why do we suffer? What does it mean to live wisely? How do we cultivate greater peace, compassion, purpose, and connection? Wisdom of the Ages is a 40-day journey into these timeless questions through the teachings of Vedic philosophy, Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Greek philosophy, Christian mysticism, Islam and Judaism. Rather than studying religion or comparing belief systems, we’ll explore the timeless wisdom within these traditions and consider what these teachings might reveal about consciousness, human nature, relationships, suffering, purpose, and the art of living well. Our optional companion text, Universal Wisdom, by Guy Charles will provide a cross-cultural foundation for our exploration. We will also work with the Savitur Gayatri Mantra, an ancient Vedic mantra associated with illumination and awakened discernment, while incorporating Kundalini Kriya Yoga, meditation, contemplation, and reflection throughout the journey. The intention is to listen deeply, think deeply, practice deeply—and discover the unifying truths among these wisdom traditions. Register: Karalooney.com/course-registration Journey runs Wed 9/23 -> Sun 11/1 #meditation #community #wisdomtraditions #kundaliniyoga #gayatrimantra by @kundalooney
Gloria Steinem died on September 2, 2026, at 92. Hers was an incarnation well lived. I want to acknowledge her passing because I loved her—and I love what she did for us. As a GenX woman born in 1978, into the first generation of women who could imagine lives that weren’t predetermined. Feasibly I could live alone, choose not to marry, choose not to have children, pursue different careers, and define success for myself, by myself. That freedom wasn’t inevitable. Many of the rights GenX, Millennial, GenZ grew up taking for granted had only recently been secured. The radical women who came before me gave me something extraordinary: agency—the ability to make choices about my own life. There’s a profound difference between being judged for a choice and never being allowed to make it. Because of Gloria’s work and the other woman before and beside her, I’ve been able to create an unconventional life that feels deeply my own. My simple, joyful life is, in some small way, an expression of gratitude for what they made possible. The freedom to opt out of marriage, to live childfree, to make career choices that are free of imposed artificial limitations. In the yogic view, a soul incarnates in a particular time because that’s where its dharma can unfold. When I look at Gloria’s life, I see someone who arrived just as the question of what women could be was cracking open—and spent her life holding that opening wide for us. She planted seeds whose fruit she would never fully see. I am one of the women living in that fruit. Now it’s our turn to tend the tree. I explore Gloria’s life, her Vedic chart showing the fullness of her assignment and this idea of inheritance more deeply in the full article on my blog. We live in a time of extraordinary human capability. We can build, automate, accelerate and scale in ways previous generations could barely imagine. But have we become too focused on one question: Can we? The fact that we can do something doesn’t mean it benefits from being done. A deeper inquiry asks: Why do we want to? What is the motivation? Who benefits? Does it support life—or deplete it? Tantric philosophy offers an interesting lens through the complementary principles of masculine and feminine. The masculine is will, direction, action and bringing something into form. The feminine is receptivity, reflection, context and discernment. The masculine gives us the capacity to act. The feminine gives us the capacity to pause and discern what is worthy of our action. Neither is complete without the other. We can see what happens when action becomes disconnected from discernment. BOEING: Can we cut costs? Increase production? Maximize financial returns? Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing presents a disturbing account of a culture where financial performance and production pressure came to outweigh engineering and safety. When profitability takes precedence over human life, capability becomes disconnected from wisdom. AI DATA CENTERS: We can build enormous infrastructure to support AI. But can we ask where it makes sense? Can we use clean energy and existing or underutilized infrastructure rather than continually creating new demands on land, water and communities? Discernment doesn’t oppose progress. It asks us to become more intelligent about how progress happens. And the inquiry is personal: Where are you operating from “Can I?” without asking “Why?” Where are you pursuing something because it is possible rather than because it contributes? The yin-yang reminds us: balance is not action or receptivity. It is allowing each to inform the other. The feminine receives and discerns. The masculine directs and acts. The deeper evolution isn’t simply becoming more capable. It is becoming more discerning about what we do with our capability. More on this? Join @kundalooney at @santoshabigsky on Wednesday 8/26 from 7:30-8:450pm for a deeply immersive and restorative sound healing event. Kara’s specific methodology of sound healing involves sound entrainment, a therapeutic practice where acoustic frequencies and rhythmic tones through specialized sound healing instruments restore the body’s internal biological rhythms, brainwaves, and autonomic functions to synchronize with the stable, coherent pulse of the sounds. We will also be exploring the astrology of the full moon and approaching final lunar eclipse of 2026 through the lens of the most accurate and respected form astrology on the planet, Vedic Astrology. #vedicastrology #lunareclipse #soundhealing #nervoussystemreset #bigskymontana by @kundalooney
🌕 FULL MOON SOUND HEALING Rhythm • Resonance • Release Wednesday, August 26 | 7:30–8:45 PM 📍 Santosha Wellness | Big Sky Join Kara Looney for a deeply restorative evening of sacred sound, meditation, and nervous system renewal as we gather in the days leading up to the August Full Moon and Lunar Eclipse. According to Vedic/Sidereal Astrology, the Moon’s journey from the 26th to the 28th offers a beautiful progression. 🎶 AUGUST 26 — DHANIṢṬHĀ As we gather, the Moon moves through Dhaniṣṭhā, the nakshatra of rhythm, music, harmony, and alignment with the natural cycles of life. Symbolized by the sacred drum, Dhaniṣṭhā invites us to listen for our own rhythm — the rhythm of our breath, our body, our emotions, and our lives. 🌊 AUGUST 28 — ŚATABHIṢĀ As the Moon reaches fullness, it moves into Śatabhiṣā Nakshatra in Aquarius, where the Partial Lunar Eclipse occurs. Known as the “hundred healers,” Śatabhiṣā carries themes of healing, purification, truth, and seeing beneath the surface. It is a movement from finding our rhythm → to listening more deeply → to releasing what no longer belongs. The eclipse illuminates the Aquarius–Leo axis, inviting reflection around authenticity, belonging, community, freedom, and the courage to live from the heart. ✨ What are you ready to release? ✨ What truth is ready to be seen? ✨ Where are you being called back into alignment with yourself? Our evening of gong, ocean drum, seven quartz crystal singing bowls, meditation, breath, and deep rest becomes a way of entering this threshold consciously — allowing sound and stillness to bring us back to the rhythm already within. Rhythm → Resonance → Release Come slow down. Come listen. Come restore. 🌕 Wednesday, August 26 | 7:30–8:45 PM Santosha Wellness • Big Sky ✨ Reserve your space. #FullMoonSoundHealing #VedicAstrology #LunarEclipse #SoundHealing #kundalini by @kundalooney
Join me at @santoshabigsky for an immersive evening of sound, meditation, and reflection beneath the Full Moon on Wednesday July 29th 7:30pm This Full Moon falls in Śravaṇa Nakshatra, a lunar constellation associated with deep listening and the transformative power of sound, and coincides with Guru Purnima, a sacred day honoring wisdom, spiritual growth, and the inner teacher within. Rather than creating a musical performance, this experience is rooted in entrainment—using coherent vibrations from the gong, crystal singing bowls, and ocean drum to help the nervous system settle into greater balance. As the analytical mind quiets, we create space for deep presence, insight, and restoration. Whether you’re seeking rest, clarity, or a deeper connection with yourself, this evening offers a chance to pause, listen, and realign. ✨ No experience necessary. Bring a yoga mat, blanket, pillow, and anything else to help you relax. karalooney.com https://santoshabigsky.com/workshops-special-events/ #SoundHealing #FullMoon #GuruPurnima #VedicAstrology #bigskymontana by @kundalooney
