My first baby, my bravest mama of 2 amazing litters, our queen of the house, my Pōmaika’i, lost her battle to cancer this morning. We fought so hard for her under so many financial circumstances, kept her as comfortable as she could be and during those times, you wouldn’t be able to tell she was even sick. She ran, she played, she rolled, she ate, she even continued to do her nightly walks around the neighborhood, lasting longer than the rest of our dogs.

When we first got Pōmai, it was a surprise to me and my brother. She was the runt of her litter. My dad bringing her home was the best thing that’s ever happened to us. She instantly lit up the family with her spunky personality and flappy ears. She was truly one of the smartest dogs and so kind to everyone that greeted her. We taught her how to wipe her mouth after she drank water, gave thanks before she ate, and even wipe her feet before coming back into the house… she was the IT girl. Years go by and she was able to help expand our family with so many beautiful puppies who now get to continue on her bloodline.

Now 7 years has passed and her time is up. God is ready for her. He’s ready to open His home to her and care for her like she should be, better than what we could do for her here on Earth. I’ll never forget her smile or, her hugs and her kisses and even more her swimming in the pool and tanning in the sun.

My baby… I love you so much and miss you even more already. I’m gonna miss seeing you every morning at the front door, and every night at the front gate waiting for me to come home from work. You’re not in pain anymore. You are now free. Please come back to visit us again soon. May you rest in peace and love, mama. We will see you again ❤️
