🎹 Bill Charlap, the acclaimed pianist and director of jazz studies at WP, once again teams up with bass giant Christian McBride, this time in a trio format with the addition of drum master Kenny Washington this Sunday, October 11th at 3PM. All three artists are Grammy winners and are tops in the field on their respective instruments. This should prove to be a concert of sublime jazz trio music at the highest level. This concert is sponsored by Barbara Thoen in honor of her husband Wayne Thoen.

🎵 Join us at 2pm for a special Sittin' In Meet-the-Artist session, included with your ticket purchase, and get the unique opportunity to interact with the artists of the day.

49 years ago today September 20, 1977, I made my first recording with the great alto saxophonist Lee Konitz. I was 19 years old. I couldn’t sleep the night before. I was excited but nervous. This was a working band so I knew the music. I did the best I could. I join the band just a few months before. Trombonist Jimmy Knepper recommended me. I learned a lot from those guy’s being the youngest guy in that band. They were HARDCORE.

Excited to make my debut as a leader at @oneflightup.jazz , the beautiful new jazz club in lower Manhattan, where I’ll have the pleasure of playing trio with the masterful rhythm section of @newyorkp7 Peter Washington and @kwjazzdrums Kenny Washington.

Fri Aug 7 and Sat Aug 8 2026… Two sets: 7:00 & 9:00 PM. Hope you can make it by. $30 music room / $20 for bar seating per set, and one drink minimum.

Congratulations on the opening, and thanks so much to @strassdrums and team for having us.

🎧💿 To give you a taste of what to expect, attached is a track from my album ‘Make Your Move’, which I recorded with Kenny a few years ago. It’s available from @cellarlive (thanks again to @coryweeds for releasing it, as well as my more recent album, Grand Company) and to all the press, radio and listeners who support our work. See you there.
