Today, was Club Penguins 20th Anniversary. In 2010, Cory and I had a Club Penguin Birthday party that my Mom had helped design and put together. For us as kids it was a great game, but for me it’s a game that became deeper and that I always associate the most with my childhood. I was definitely obsessed, hence the photo of Jaylyn with the Club Penguin Mini-Hockey table behind her one Christmas, but I think it was the coolest game and helped form me today. The idea that it was a safe kids social media, before social media. The whole point of the game was creativity and imagination. Even though the game shut down in 2017, I still think about it often, even still grabbing a sticker that says “Eat the Rich” only because it was a Club Penguin avatar. Just like me and many other kids in 2010, I think it’s one of the greatest things about my childhood and am thankful to have had such a positive pop-culture on me and my siblings in our early lives. And whether I knew it or not at the time, I guarantee it helped form this idea to play as many different characters as I wanted to in my life, in the form of a little virtual penguin. #ClubPenguin20th by @kyledbraun

When I was 12, we brought you home. When I was 13, I held you for comfort while you looked at us confused as to why 3 kids and 2 adults, cried. When I was 14, I came home from a movie theatre rejected, but you were there at the door waiting with acceptance. When I was 15, I was always anxious. You’d lick my arm to say it’s okay. When I was 16, You and I, went on our first Car Ride. When I was 17, I was heartbroken and cried, the touch of your fur made me feel alright. When I was 18, you wanted my girlfriend to take you for walks. When I was 19, with the tilt of your head, we said goodbye as I left for school. When I was 20, on your birthday, we spent the hours together. I took you for treats, a walk and a new toy. A day I’ll never forget, clear as light. When I was 21, we would snuggle again every night in the same house for the last time. When I was 22, you wanted my Wife to take you for walks. When I was 23, you greeted us at the house every time we came over, as if it was the first time. When I was 24, it was time to say goodbye. I do hope and I do pray, I’ll hold you again someday. Just as I did down here, I hopefully will up there. by @kyledbraun
