Kymatic Ensemble presents the Russian premiere of Codex Praxis, a work by American composer @koryreeder .

This large-scale audio spectacle will serve as the final event in the µskusstvo concert series at the iconic art space @armaseventeen .

Closing a Cycle — Opening a New Sound

Kymatic, residents of ARMA, are well known to audiences from the club’s landmark events, as well as the Sensor and Outline festivals and the opening of Mutabor in 2020. Now, they conclude their journey at ARMA by presenting one of the most experimental and ritualistic works of the contemporary scene.

Codex Praxis: A 100-Minute Acoustic Ritual

Codex Praxis is a 100-minute score performed without interruption by seven musicians of the ensemble. In their version, Kymatic enriches the original sound with organ, synthesizers, and field recordings, creating a vibrating, mystical environment. Gradual melodic development collides with noise and dissonant whirlwinds, forming a unique acoustic ritual. taken in А Р М А by @clotho_ensemble

Time has passed, and the performance that miraculously unfolded on a snow-covered, mist-shrouded mountain lingers in memory like a fading dream. A ritual of mystery, leaving us to wonder—did it really happen, or was it all an illusion? Our deepest thanks to the @festivaltransart for offering us the gift of this space. Few festivals can grant you an entire mountain to realize your musical vision, but Transart did. Bravo!

‘Ascension’, written for voice and ensemble, was composed by @alexandermanotskov specifically for the upward journey to Vigiljoch / Monte San Vigilio and performed by @kymaticensemble. This was both a literal and metahorical ascent, performed inside the @vigiljoch1912 cable car, on the chairlift, and in the vast outdoor spaces of the mountain, as the musicians walked together with the public in a deeply evocative and moving performance.

An open-air musical performance: ‘Ascension’ is the title of the latest musical work, for voice and ensemble, written and directed by Russian composer @alexandermanotskov. This site-specific composition — written specifically for the evocative upward journey to Vigiljoch / Monte San Vigilio — is based in sound and space, on the idea of pilgrimage and ascent.

It is an ascent that is not only metaphorical, but also literal: the audience will be invited to gradually make their way up the mountain together with the musicians through a series of musical and visual experiences.

Ascension is not only site-specific, but also ensemble-specific, as it was composed especially for @kymaticensemble, the contemporary music ensemble led by multi-instrumentalist Alina Petrova (@alin_a_alinn) and dedicated to the newest musical experiments.
