My name is Melina Hettiaratchi, and I’m running to represent the people of Louisville's Metro Council District 11.

POSTS STORIES REELS

All the results will be in tomorrow, but I wanted to take a second to thank all of our voters, volunteers, and donors for the support. We ran a great race, and I couldn't be more grateful for your dedication to a Metro Council that works for all of us. by @kywithmelina

We knocked a total of 6,571 doors in 4 months! Residents across the district have shared their hopes and fears for this election and beyond. We've heard the same issues come up, things that affect everyone in District 11.

High costs of childcare, groceries, and home ownership. Traffic and safety in our neighborhoods. Communities that are connected to parks, local businesses, spaces to gather.

A vote for Melina is a vote for your voice in the solutions to these issues. #VoteForChange #withmelina #louisville #metrocouncil by @kywithmelina

Thank you to today’s canvassing group!! It is less than 48 hours until polls close, and we will use all the help we can get! Meet me out canvassing tomorrow during the day or come launch from Sweet Savannah’s at 4PM! Share with your friends and make your plan to vote! 🗳️ #gotv #louisville #jtown #canvass #vote by @kywithmelina

This is what grassroots support looks like! Not a billboard or junk mail, but real people who spend time and energy to lift us up. We were out here during rush hour on the first day of early voting!
Individual people coming together can make a difference. Especially in these down ballot races. It's no coincidence that the only early voting location in District 11 saw record turnout on Thursday! We have been hard at work all month! And we are sprinting through the finish line now.

Thank you to @greenwellpam and everyone who showed up to canvass today!!

With 3 more days until the election we are so appreciative of the help! We will be canvassing tomorrow at 12PM and launching from Sweet Savannah’s. Let’s GOTV!!

We want to spend this incredible night with YOU, our supporters and team. We want to thank you for being there through this crazy campaign season. Please join us! Comment or DM for the link to RSVP. by @kywithmelina

Every day, people all over District 11 are getting political ads from campaigns and PACs. You won't get a blanket mailer from us, because we hope to have stopped by your door or gotten you a handwritten note before Election Day.

Today, I wrote the last few to follow up on in-person conversations at the doors. I've talked to Republicans, Independents, Libertarians, Democrats, and everyone in between. I am proud to be running a campaign centered on the people of this district, regardless of party affiliation.

Thank you to @gaslightdinerky for letting me spend breakfast and lunch with good music, great food, and too much coffee. Song choice inspired by the diner, and I hope no postcards get returned to sender. by @kywithmelina

We have to treat public safety like a public health issue.

As your Metro Councilwoman, I would support innovative programs that rethink how we address crime in our city. I want to give a shout out to the excellent example of @jeffersontownpoliceky and the REACH unit, a social worker-led deflection program operating within the Jeffersontown Police Department (JPD), specializing in providing comprehensive support to victims of crime, and individuals facing substance misuse, mental health challenges, and homelessness. (Check out the website: https://www.jtownpolice.org/reach)

Social workers and case managers help us connect to community resources and see the needs of a person or their family, rather than just the crime. We need more resources and more connectors.

Vote by Nov 3!

Are you talking with your friends, neighbors, or work besties about candidates in this election? A conversation can change the outcome of an election, especially in local races. Your voice matters!

Thanks, Jennifer, for having that conversation with someone who lives in the district. You didn't just get her vote, you got a yard sign out! That could lead to so many more.

This campaign is about connecting with the community. I'm in the neighborhood knocking doors and at events to meet people where they are. Thank you to @jeffersontownchamber for hosting an incredible candidate meet+greet.
Where else should we do a meet+greet? by @kywithmelina

Time for a special shout out for an exceptional volunteer: Pam Greenwell. She signed up to host postcard parties and fundraisers, but was never interested in canvassing. Until she did and felt the impact of a conversation at the door. Pam knows how important this race is to a strong Metro Council. She knows these races can be close calls, so every door counts. It takes a lot to get your friends and colleagues to knock doors, especially when they have never canvassed before! Thank you, Pam, for using your power to bring others along with you. You are a true leader. by @kywithmelina

Today we hit 5,000 doors! one of which was Andrew, the owner of @trailntrack!
Our goal is to knock 3,000 more in the next 17 days. Please join us to canvass on Saturday and Sunday, or reach out via messenger about getting a list to knock on your own.
More info at the link in our bio.

We have a lot of work left to do, and we greatly appreciate the help!
