Been eyeing off the Cementa28 EOI but haven’t quite made it to the submit button? Good news: we are not asking you to have your entire artistic future figured out. Finished artwork? Nope. Perfectly resolved idea? Definitely nope. All we need is a CV, some examples of your work and up to 1000 words about an idea you’d like to share with Kandos. Any art form is welcome. The residency is part of the process for a reason: we want the work to have room to change once it meets the place, the people and whatever else Kandos throws at it. Swipe through for the answers to some of the questions we’ve been getting. Cementa28 Artist EOIs close 5 November 2026. Link to apply in our bio! #Cementa28 #CementaFestival #ArtistEOI by @l_a__n__a
Thanks so much for taking an interest in this bike ride from the Native Grassland Circle to NEXTDC Melbourne Data Centre (approx. 18km + 7km to dinner/train station). Meet @ 2pm in the middle of the Native Grassland Circle (as marked on google maps) We will have a flag and be waiting there with our bicycles. You hopefully won’t miss us. 2-2.30pm  Talk by Harrison Baxter from Petrichor Collaborative 2:30-4:30pm (or however long it takes) Ride to the data centre with multiple stops and talks along the way by:   - Britt Henderson - And anyone who wishes to speak Around 5pm: the final official stop will be NEXTDC Melbourne Data Centre  Talk from Peter Hoyne from Friends of Steele Creek Catch the train home: catch the train from Glenroy train station (7km from train station) These times also may shift and change depending on how fast we move.  What to bring:  It looks like it will be a beautiful sunny day for riding but there might be a little rain.     •    Bike safety: helmets (essential)     •    Sunsafety: glasses, sunscreen, long sleeve shirts, etc.      •    Water: at least 1L each would be good.      •    Snacks: keep your energy up along the way - muesli bars, bananas and lollies are great snacks :~)      •    Bike kit (bike pump and puncture kit if you have one)      •    If you have a small first aid kit NOTE: I (Marilena) am not a bike expert nor an expert of this area. I am here to learn and help organise. It will be my first time riding this route so if you have done this trail please help guide the way. By the looks of it there will be a few main roads to traverse. Let’s keep ourselves and each other safe and stick together as much as possible. Some of you might be more experienced than others - this whole process is about learning collectively. Please feel welcome to share knowledge and bike pumps.  LETS RIDE! by @l_a__n__a
SUNDAY, NOV 1 2 — 6PM Want to learn more about the impact of data centres near you? We are organising a bike ride from Royal Park Native Grasslands Circle along Moonie Ponds Creek to Tullamarine at the Next DC data center in the Niddrie electorate. Melbourne’s west and north are being reshaped by a wave of huge data centre projects that power AI and cloud computing. As well as the devastating and irreversible environmental and health impacts they are being approved fast, often with residents shut out of the process. Following on from the methodologies of the 00-02 Energy publication, pedaling we will collectively grasp the scale and physical impacts to the local ecosystems and communities affected by these undemocratic and very present planning decisions. The ride will be approximately 18km. It is not a race and along the way we will pause, catch our breaths and learn from multiple experts including Bunurong candidate Britt Henderson. @britt_on_the_ballot Let’s pedal and try to learn more about wtf is going on. Read more about the impacts of Data Centres here (link in bio) https://concernedwaterwaysalliance.org/the-data-centre-page/ Email me for more details marilenahewitt94@gmail.com by @l_a__n__a

MEET THE CEMENTA28 CURATORS! One festival has finished and the next one has begun! We're excited to introduce the curators for Cementa28: Uncle Peter Swain, Lana Nguyen and Lucas Ihlein. They are asking: what if artists, curators, community and Country had more time to get to know each other? What if art projects could grow deeper roots, stretching across festivals, years, or even longer? Our new curatorial team is imagining an … e.x.t.e.n.d.e.d … C.e.m.e.n.t.a … creating more room for experimentation, collaboration and the unexpected. As the curators put it, this is "the opposite direction that the world is going, as time becomes more divided and attention spans become shorter; which is why we’ve got to do it!" And where else but Kandos? Meet the curators and read their full statement on our website via our link in bio. #cementa28 by @l_a__n__a
