Persevere:

1. continue in a course of action even in the face of difficulty or with little or no prospect of success.

This definition comes to mind when I think back at how far I’ve come. My nursing school journey felt like it took forever with an obstacle at every corner for me. But I persevered. I graduated at the start of the pandemic May 2020. After all my hard work, tears and dedication to make it through, my graduation, my nursing pinning, and my thoroughly planned out graduation party all cancelled. I was in a bad place emotionally, in a toxic relationship and I failed the NCLEX my first attempt. I wanted to give up. I felt like nursing was no longer for me. But still I persevered. I took a break from nursing and focused on my mental health, focused on myself for once and did whatever made me happy. I took the NCLEX again, PASSED. I had the right people in my corner this time and we’ve been celebrating every milestone ever since. So this month makes 6 months since I’ve been on a med-surg floor and I can’t be more proud of myself. I told myself everyday in the beginning “I’m never coming back here, I’m quitting” lmaooo. But I persevered. I’ve gotten so much better. I’ve learned so much. And I have the pleasure of working alongside of some of the best nurses ever! They are constantly encouraging me, teaching me, helping me when I’m drowning and checking up on me throughout the shift and I am super grateful to work with them. All in all, I’m persevering. No matter how many times I wanted to give up, I didn’t. No matter how many times I came home crying, I went back the next day and did my best. No matter how many times I took other interviews and GOT the jobs, I turned it down because I’m realizing this is where I’m supposed to be right here, right now. My nursing journey hasn’t been pretty or easy, but it’s MINE 👩🏽‍⚕️💗 guess the B.S. was worth the BS 🤗 by @laboss_jess
