Love or Hunger? 👀 by @lagottobruno

Hello autumn and welcome back cuff… coughing season 🍂👋🏼 It’s that time of the year, when Bruno starts to get his seasonal cold(s). Which had been his Achilles’ heel from day one basically. Tonight he woke me up coughing a bit and I noticed that his nose is running 🫠 you know what that means: it’s scarf time!

Bruno on Wildschwein Duty 🐗❤️
If you asked Bruno, the only thing that’s missing though, are the muddy puddles. But he’s still out here living his best Lagotto Life.

Coucou, kleiner Reminder, dass Sonntag in Berlin und Meck-Pomm gewählt wird. Lasst mal demokratische Parteien wählen, weil alles andere wär ganz schön dumm, ok? 🏃‍♀️🗳️🫱🏼‍🫲🏾🌈✊🏼

Denk ich an Deutschland in der Nacht…

Most of you probably already know what happened last Sunday in Saxony-Anhalt. For the first time since the 1930s a party officially classified as a proven right-wing extremist organization won a state election with an outright majority. The #noafd is now the strongest political force in the state.

We all saw it coming and yet it still hits different. So I want to take this sad occasion as an opportunity to thank everyone who spent months and years showing up, organizing, refusing to normalize any of this shit 🙏🏼 And just in case there‘s any doubt: this dog account is political! In fact, everything is political! So let’s not lose hope. Instead, let‘s build communities and networks, stand together and not give in to hate, okay?

Achso und wer die AfD wählt ist übrigens Nazi. Sorry Not sorry. 🌈✊🏼💚🫶🏼🏳️‍⚧️ by @lagottobruno

And suddenly you’re afraid your dog might need diapers for the rest of his life… 🫠

Few people know that castration can cause incontinence in male dogs too. It’s true, only around 4% of males are affected, compared to roughly 12% of females. Small numbers, until your dog is one of them.

As some of you know, Bruno is part of that 4%. It’s been better, it’s been worse, but never as bad as it’s been lately. He’s been on Caniphedrin, a medication that works by stimulating the urethral sphincter muscle to improve bladder control. It helped for a while, then less so, and right now it’s not doing much at all.

In Brunos it seems to be genetic. His half-brother has the exact same issue. Incontinence after castration isn’t fully understood yet, but when it runs in a bloodline, it suggests some dogs may simply have a predisposition to weaker sphincter muscle function once hormonal support is removed.
It’s not a glamorous topic, and it’s not easy to manage. I’m still looking for a longer-term solution. Until then, it’s about getting by: cotton panties from @lills.dog more frequent walks, and a lot more laundry.

One thing‘s very important to me: none of this makes me anti-castration. I still believe it’s a decision worth thinking through carefully, but one that can absolutely make sense. For Bruno and me, I still think it was the right choice. It comes down to weighing pros and cons. What I do think matters is going into that decision well-informed.
