POSTS STORIES REELS

Nox said he wanted to see what the duck hunting in the prairies was all about, and I didn’t have the heart to tell him no. That’s my story anyway. by @lakepickle

First time deer hunting on our new property that we bought for a future home place. The root ball blind almost worked! I flushed a covey of 12-15 quail on my walk down to the creek, which was my first encounter with bobwhites on the place since we got it. Between that flurry of fast wings and the ground encounter with this young buck, I don’t think I ever stopped smiling. Life is grand. by @lakepickle

After receiving multiple stories describing a mysterious figure in the woods, the team at Expanded Perspectives started calling it the “Glimmer Man.”

We just spent a week hunting ducks in North Dakota with onX (@lakepickle is still trying to perfect his Upper Midwestern accent). This part of the country promises plenty of opportunity for the freelance duck hunter, but there are some challenges here too. Conditions were dry and warm, mallard numbers are down historically, and there was no small number of other nonresident hunters chasing the same sort of hunts as us. So if you do plan on traveling up north to go duck hunting, keep a few things in mind: make sure to close the gates behind you, don’t rut up the field roads, clean up your spent hulls, don’t shoot close to the cattle or horses, and be extra nice to the locals. And, lastly, read up on why the proposal to revise the drain tile setback rules would be detrimental to duck hunters up and down the flyway. Hopefully we can preserve one of the last best places for the DIY duck hunter. Listen to our full breakdown on the Outdoor Life podcast tomorrow. @alexrobinson_mn

Here’s a short story told through photos and video about me choosing to annoy @laceyapickle while she tries to order coffee at a drive-through for our journey home from Memphis. Happy wife, happy life OR slightly irritated wife, very amusing life. Happy Sunday. by @lakepickle

On the recent podcast I did with @expandedperspectives & @ducksunlimitedinc , I told a story about a really old bull elk that we hunted my first year ever in the mountains in September. This is a clip from that hunt, of that bull. This bull had the craziest, low pitched, growl of a bugle to this day I’ve ever heard in my life. If I didn’t have people with me that had been elk hunting for 20+ years when I first heard this elk, I would’ve told people I heard a monster in the woods and I didn’t know what it was. It will send chills down your spine. by @lakepickle
