This year, as we celebrate OHRD’s decade of radical cooperative work and Lakou Learning & Liberation co-op’s introduction to the ecosystem, we gather in the spirit of rasanblaj—a Haitian term encompassing a Pan-Caribbean decolonial act of assembling ourselves (back) together. We gather to remember that liberation is a constant and collective practice, that can be rooted in jwi/joy, and we do this until we are all free. Please join us for a daytime healing portal, mark your calendars! 🌸🌸🌸

Yesterday, I published “Mirrors,” a meditation on the possibilities embedded in the layering of MLK Day and Inauguration Day. It’s hopeful, and the hope lives in our ability to embody a deep love practice and to work together. Check it out on @ohrdemo’s blog Freedom Papers. (www.ohrdemocracy.org/freedom-papers) It’s a 2-minute read.

Stay tuned for an upcoming offering to community and folx interested in joining the liberation* work I and my comrades engage in.

The photo is of my nearly 80 year old aunty who still maintains her 5 acres of land in Florida, growing food, medicine, flowers and family! I took it on a visit during the earlier part of this pandemic. by @lakoulearning

Thank you Carlos Museum @carlosmuseum for being our learning environment today. @emoryuniversity, your courtyard was our place of rest and reflection. We also left an offering of popcorn and potato crisps in the grass to feed the birds and the bees.

Today we learned that
1) ancient Greeks drank a lot as evidenced by this potential wine pitcher.
2) ancient Egyptians thought rest was important enough to prepare bodies for it in the afterlife.
3) your homework can survive for centuries so no excuses.
4) Egyptian makeup practices are still trending.
5) loan contracts can survive forever so take one out with intent.
6) sticks and staffs hold power.
7) beauty transcends time by @lakoulearning

What are your gender and preferred pronouns? We don’t assume gender, we ask. When we forget, we apologize, correct ourselves and move on. We also recognize that gender is fluid and dynamic. So we hold space for change, the only constant. #gender #pronouns #genderfluid #trans #nwlnw #mlm #theythem #hehim #decolonizedlearning #learningandliberation #queerliberation #RQBF #Lakou by @lakoulearning
