To celebrate the release of #Witch Hat Atelier today, I thought I'd show you my POV as a WHA cosplayer since 2018, when the manga released in Europe!

From my character barely being recognized at conventions, to seeing cosplayers pop up and fans coming up to me happy to see WHA cosplayed, meetings with friends found online over WHA, and eventually meet ups at conventions, or official events... Notably I got to witness it grow at Dokomi meet ups, from 4 of us in 2021, to a nice group in 2023, to nearly 40 attendees in 2025!

Seeing the fandom grow and sharing the love for Witch Hat Atelier during 8 years has been an amazing journey, and I cannot thank all the fans that made it wonderful enough!

I swear, I've seen this getting worse and worse over the years, with French collector editions being scalped to the point of the publisher having to restock and ask bookstores to limit sales per person, and with LBM it only got worse. Not to mention people who scalp signatures. A fan could have gotten that signature, but some scalper decided to butt in and make a buck off Shirahama's love for her fans.

The best way to discourage scalping as a consumer is to not buy. Let them sit there with their overpriced goods and realize they've wasted their time and energy leeching off a fandom.

As a reminder please do NOT harass these sellers, or anyone buying from them!

I am posting this to express anger and resentment for this practice that has been plagueing fandom spaces recently, be it Pokemon collectors, manga collectors, or fans who just want some merch.

Posting cause this was amazing and lucky an occasion for me! Also to tell people to do what they love, I've been cosplaying this character since 2018, regardless of whether people would recognize him, cause I really liked his design and WHA as a whole! I still plan on adding to him but being able to thank Shirahama Sensei for the encouragement she gives her fans and the creativity she gives, was amazing! This fandom has given me friendships across the globe, I met too many amazing people to keep track of, and I wish you all to get to witness the amazing meetings that occur in fandoms, cosplay, events, signings, etc!
Sorry for the long wordy emotional paragraph, I send best luck to fans who hope to meet Shirahama and get her autograph, she's adorable and nice! by @lalottered
