@lamonroy_arts take-over 💀[3/3] Our Lady of Holy Death, incarnated in La Monroy🎭, invites everyone to dance with her during the Colossal Horizons Ball 🪩 at Open Studios 2026 next week! ✨ Created in memory of Pedro Antonio Cano, an Indigenous man from Nueva Granada (present-day Colombia) who lived with acromegaly (gigantism) and was abducted in 1792 and presented to the Spanish Crown as a one-of-a-kind gift. His abduction served to expand the Spanish Empire’s medical discourse on alterity and to fuel debates about the past existence of giants in the territory of Abya Yala. The Colossal Ball will unfold in three distinct movements during Open Studios. 🪩 Play hide-and-seek with Lady Death, share an intimate partner dance with the Holy Death herself, and experience a one-of-a-kind, spine-chilling drag-monster performance that resurrects the memory of Pedro Antonio Cano, ancestral queerness, and the haunting ghosts of 1940s violence in Colombia, reflecting the enduring cycles of cruelty and violence in our present. 🎉 🎟️ ➡ Get your tickets now via link in bio! #janvaneyckacademie #lamonroy #artistinresidence by @lamonroy_arts
@lamonroy_arts take-over 💀[2/3] ✨💥 On April 10th 2026 During @museumnachmaastricht La Monroy  (and fabulous doomsday conspirators) presented 💥✨ 👠🔥 SLAY VAN EYCK! 🔥👠 ✨ An Apocalyptic Hennye Fashion Kiki Extravaganza ✨ at @janvaneyckacademie  For @museumnachtmaastricht , the sacred halls of the Jan van Eyck Academie were possessed by glitter ✨, prophecy 🔮, and carnival chaos 🎭. Drag monster and resident artist Carlos Marilyn Monroy —better known as La Monroy 💅—summoned the legendary Maastricht carnival designer Hennie Ritzen-Vrieling for a flamboyant fashion séance 🪩👗 celebrating her iconic body of work. Together they unleashed a Hennye Fashion Kiki Extravaganza 💥: an installative runway where carnival couture 👗, monstrous glamour 🐉✨, baroque silhouettes 🎀, and camp pageantry 🎭 collided. Performers, guests, and creatures of the night activate the garments, turning the academy into a living carnival archive 🪩🎉. The night culminated in a short apocalyptic drag ritual ☄️ led by La Monroy— ten minutes of prophecy 🔮, glamour ✨, and end-of-the-world realness 🌍🔥. Between true rumors of a Third World War ⚔️, planetary collapse 🌪️, and collective anxiety 😵‍💫, the message was simple: 💅 If the apocalypse is coming… ✨ we might as well SLAY it. ✨ APOCALYPTICAL PRODUCTION, STYLING, MAKE UP & END OF THE WORLD PERFORMANCE SHOW by @lamonroy_arts  END OF THE WORLD GARMENTS and FASHIOoooN by Hennie Ritzen Vrielig DOOMSDAY SOUND by @younes_zarhoni Zarhoni FINAL ARMAGEDDON VIDEO by @amshuchukki ULTIMATE PHOTOGRAPHY SLAYING by @aymenmohd  END OF TIMES MAKE UP by Marco Maleficient, Dyke van Dick PRODUCTION ON SET by @themissing_texture  MODELS  @alexandriadouziech, @tuomaalamartta, Andreas Engman, @lucie.rtvn, @thaofilm, @dykevandickdrag , @yigelongpanpan , @maremotogallery , @marcomaleficent , @yourbellybuttonfrogman , @tuomaalamartta, Ulani Kweku, @amshuchukki, @lieve.lw, @eclipsepoet, @eicul9 @sskylarbankss @_chia_rettaa @mathias.palazzi @jeune.thomas Long Live the Queen: CARNIVAL!  Long live the King: FASHION! #Los100CuerposDeMarilyn #MarilynMonroe #TransformismoColombiano #Transformismo by @lamonroy_arts
