What do your clients want more than anything?

To feel seen and heard.

They won’t hear your solution until they feel like you’ve met them where they are.

Do you feel like you’re clearly doing that in your marketing right now?

Comment below, I’m here to help. by @lanaonmoney

Why I felt rich and had no money.

I have an economics degree.

I used to work on billion-dollar deals.

And five years into my own business, I didn't know my profit margin.

When I finally looked, it was running at 30 to 40%.

It should have been 75 to 80%.

Because as soon as the money came in, I spent it.

On the team. On the venue. On the next launch.

Everyone got paid before me.

What finally changed it wasn't a bigger launch.

It was deciding I come first.

A minimum I pay myself, every month, no matter what.

The amount can move with the season.

But the minimum is the minimum.

If your business has good months and you still feel like you're running on empty, there's a way out.

And it's simpler than you think.

Why is it so HARD to build something SIMPLE?

Because complexity is what you get when nobody makes the hard calls.

Every confusing app you’ve ever used is a pile of difficult choices someone avoided.

About 80% of features in the average software product are rarely or never used (Pendo, 2019).

As 37signals put it: “Build half a product, not a half-ass product.” 🎯

But SIMPLE costs more.

It costs arguments, cutting features that took months but didn’t land, and the ego hit of shipping less than you could.

I spent about ten years running a coaching business, taking thousands of people through processes that were new, confronting and sometimes uncomfortable.

It taught me that people act from emotion far more than logic.

We avoid that one email. We leave the form open in a tab for weeks.

Even if the task is small, the feeling around it can be huge.

So SIMPLE has to be a decision a team keeps making.

For us at @iamcashflowy, one of the biggest decisions was getting the voice feature right.

You can talk to your business wife instead of typing, and she talks back.

It feels like you’re talking to someone who gets your business, not an AI chatbot built into software just to extract information from you.

A customer told us after onboarding:
“Oh my god, this is so much easier than I thought. I was building it up in my head, and now I see how simple it was.”

Bingo.

Nothing is more satisfying than working hard to get SIMPLE right. by @lanaonmoney

A $38,000 tax bill almost shut down my business.

And I was making a lot of money. But I was spending it almost as fast as it was coming in.

So when the tax bill came, the money I thought I had was already gone.

That's the part nobody talks about.

Making money and keeping money are two different skills.

Which one are you better at?

Your P&L can look healthy while your bank account can't pay rent. 😬

I learned this the hard way when I ran my business.

Revenue, profit and cash are 3 different numbers with 3 different jobs:

1. Revenue is what comes in. It proves people want what you sell.
2. Profit is what you keep. It shows how efficient your business is.
3. Cash is what's actually in the bank right now. It's what pays the rent.

Most business owners obsess over the first one and get blindsided by the other two.

Want to feel better about your money? Start here. 💜

None of these are fancy. That's the good news.

Do them imperfectly. Small and steady beats big and dramatic.

Save this, and comment the day you're starting with.

The business owners who make it aren't the ones with the biggest revenue. They're the ones with the highest profit.

I used to flinch every time I opened my bank account.

What helped wasn't being tougher.

It was being gentler with myself.

I committed to taking small steps to grow, and eventually they added up to a 180° shift.

Did you know that there's a part of your brain that grows every time you don't quit?

It's called the anterior midcingulate cortex. 🧠

It grows when you do hard things you don't want to do.

And it's smaller in people who avoid effort. 😳

So facing challenges is like a muscle. 💪

Every hard thing you get through makes you stronger and the next rep easier.

Pick the thing in your business you keep putting off and take one step on it today, even if you're flinching.

Drop a ❤️ if you're doing the hard thing today.

Every business I've built came down to one thing.

Doing the hard thing while I was still scared.

The flinch never fully goes away.

You feel it before you raise your prices, before you send the invoice, before you fire the "bad" client.

What changes is the muscle. The stronger it gets, the bigger the challenges you can take on with ease.

And your capacity for growth and abundance expands with your capacity to solve bigger problems.

Drop a 💪 if you did something hard this week.

The next big wave of entrepreneurs won’t be college dropouts chasing unicorn exits. 🦄

In a study of 2.7 million US founders, the average age behind the fastest-growing companies was 45.

And a 50-year-old founder was 1.8 times more likely to build one than a 30-year-old. 🤯

The difference?

We know what our time is worth.

We know who we DO and DON’T want to work with.

We know it’s a marathon, not a sprint, so we treat it like one.

I shut down my coaching company near its peak, spent a few years figuring out what was next, and then co-founded @iamcashflowy

I’m more determined in business now than I’ve ever been.

But now I have the wisdom and experience to back up my chutzpah.

If you’re wondering if it’s too late to build the business you actually want…

YOU. ARE. RIGHT. ON. TIME. 👏

Send this to someone who needs to hear it 💜
