It’s official - I’m going back to school! 📚🤓

This week I’m starting MIT’s No Code AI & Machine Learning program to sharpen my build-fast, measure-faster toolkit:

• data → decision pipelines
• no-code ML
• evaluation & guardrails
• prompt systems teams actually use 🤖

As an AI Consultant and CGIO at @cashflowy.ai, my job is to turn emerging tech into business results - fast.

This program will help me design and deploy AI systems that teams actually adopt and profit from.

Now wish me luck going back to school! 😬

Last time I tackled a technical course like this, I was studying math and computer science at Berkeley (before eventually switching to economics).

Hopefully I won’t need to pull any all nighters I still so vividly remember from undergrad & grad days.😜 by @lanashlafer

Why is it so HARD to build something SIMPLE?

Because complexity is what you get when nobody makes the hard calls.

Every confusing app you’ve ever used is a pile of difficult choices someone avoided.

About 80% of features in the average software product are rarely or never used (Pendo, 2019).

As 37signals put it: “Build half a product, not a half-ass product.” 🎯

But SIMPLE costs more.

It costs arguments, cutting features that took months but didn’t land, and the ego hit of shipping less than you could.

I spent about ten years running a coaching business, taking thousands of people through processes that were new, confronting and sometimes uncomfortable.

It taught me that people act from emotion far more than logic.

We avoid that one email. We leave the form open in a tab for weeks.

Even if the task is small, the feeling around it can be huge.

So SIMPLE has to be a decision a team keeps making.

For us at @iamcashflowy, one of the biggest decisions was getting the voice feature right.

You can talk to your business wife instead of typing, and she talks back.

It feels like you’re talking to someone who gets your business, not an AI chatbot built into software just to extract information from you.

A customer told us after onboarding:
“Oh my god, this is so much easier than I thought. I was building it up in my head, and now I see how simple it was.”

Bingo.

Nothing is more satisfying than working hard to get SIMPLE right. by @lanashlafer

Ignore this ❌

Only makes sense to obsessed fintech builders.

Music scene in Lisbon is 👌

@aware.musica thanks for such a memorable show.

We may not be cool enough to wear kimonos, but we sure know how to groove. 🎶😝 by @lanashlafer

Did you know that there's a part of your brain that grows every time you don't quit?

It's called the anterior midcingulate cortex. 🧠

It grows when you do hard things you don't want to do.

And it's smaller in people who avoid effort. 😳

So facing challenges is like a muscle. 💪

Every hard thing you get through makes you stronger and the next rep easier.

Pick the thing in your business you keep putting off and take one step on it today, even if you're flinching.

Drop a ❤️ if you're doing the hard thing today.

The next big wave of entrepreneurs won’t be college dropouts chasing unicorn exits. 🦄

In a study of 2.7 million US founders, the average age behind the fastest-growing companies was 45.

And a 50-year-old founder was 1.8 times more likely to build one than a 30-year-old. 🤯

The difference?

We know what our time is worth.

We know who we DO and DON’T want to work with.

We know it’s a marathon, not a sprint, so we treat it like one.

I shut down my coaching company near its peak, spent a few years figuring out what was next, and then co-founded @iamcashflowy

I’m more determined in business now than I’ve ever been.

But now I have the wisdom and experience to back up my chutzpah.

If you’re wondering if it’s too late to build the business you actually want…

YOU. ARE. RIGHT. ON. TIME. 👏

Send this to someone who needs to hear it 💜

⚓️16th Bday Boat Day was a huge success! 🎉

Games, underwater treasure hunt, rap battle and dance competition… And getting pied in the face! 😝

🚨 We had such a blast, even coast guard joined in (see last slide).

It set the tone for the year ahead - for making the most of our last year in 🇵🇷 before heading to 🇪🇸! by @lanashlafer

Happy 16th bday day to my daughter Miela! 🎊🥳

She came 33 hours after her twin brother… and I cried with gratitude because she was so perfect.

And today she’s even more incredible - a super athlete, a top student, and the mostcaring and generous sister, daughter and friend.

Mimi’s creativity knows no bounds and her determination has no limits.

I’m incredibly proud of what a powerful young woman she’s becoming.

Mimi, thank you for choosing me as your mama in this lifetime! I love you through all time, space and matter, always, in all ways.

Happiest birthday angel! ❤️ by @lanashlafer
