“She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.”

I have been wrestling on whether I should post or not but my mom deserves to be celebrated and honored all the days of my life.

If you knew Mama Lesa you knew how much she meant to me. She was an indescribable, feisty, stubborn, strong, and beautiful woman. Nothing like I’ve ever seen before. She instilled values in me that no one can or will ever take away from me. She raised eight children on her own and saved the best for last (ME🤭) and I can never thank her enough for always showing up and showing out for me in everything I decided to do. From basketball, to any small event at school, to yearbook conferences, and anything I put my mind to. I was her baby who she never seemed to believe grew up but here I am.

No one could ever fill the shoes you wore. You taught me so many valuable life lessons that have allowed me to be where I am today. You comforted me through so much and always encouraged me to do what I felt called to do. You never judged me for anything I did or shut me down. You were the support system that kept me on my toes at all times. I’ll always be full knowing that I was blessed with such an amazing mom.

What did I love most about her? I loved her willingness to say what needed to be said and post pictures that I never approved of on FACEBOOK. Every year since I’ve been in college she’s sent me a care package and it was my favorite thing ever. She would always text, “Did you get it? and I would immediately head to school to pick it up. There was never a time when she wasn’t calling or texting me to update me with her vitals and everything under the sun.

I replay the day you told me you had Leukemia often and my world crumbled instantly in the moment. You told me last because you know that I would breakdown and I did just that. I’m so glad that you knew you raised an overly sensitive and loving daughter. by @lanerra._
