A touch of frost, a hint of magic- and it’s complete. I am so excited to share my first original Elsa painting debuting at EPCOT Festival of the Arts 2026! In this behind the scene look of the work in progress, you can see how my painting comes to life. Special effects are included in this one-of-a-kind original painting- iridescent white and glitter give Elsa her radiant glow. Interference blues and purples shift the color of the snow flurries as you walk past it. The icy border stands out in a glossy sheen. And the grand arches painted in blues and purples also shift from dark to light when you change your position. This one has to be seen in person to truly appreciate it. And if you’ve ever stood for 3 hours in the line for Frozen Ever After, you’ll know the precise moment of the ride that this is capturing.

Come and see me at my EPCOT signings January 20-24, 2026 at the Tokyo Pavillion.

YOU GUYS!!! It’s only been 4 long grueling years but I have completed the biggest artistic thing I have ever done in my entire life!
I Co-Authored And Illustrated a 240 page graphic novel!
It had always been a dream of mine to do a graphic novel and I have fulfilled that goal through a lot of hard work, and I kid you not, a lot of blood, sweat and oceans of tears.

It was important for me to bring a character to life who looked like me and who came from a biracial family like I did. She struggles with the same issues that I struggled with as a young girl and she overcomes those obstacles to do some pretty amazing things.

I can’t wait for young readers to experience this!

I’m so grateful to have been supported by my amazing team at Harper Alley- my editor Rose Pleuler, my art director @pandaerica and my agent @rachelprospect because they helped me crawl across the finish line after a major life event caused a year long delay of publication.

Nonetheless, I’m still INCREDIBLY PROUD of this book and I hope that you will support me by PRE-ORDERING a copy or two or three for yourself or for a young one, or a teacher, or a parent!
The link to purchase is in my bio!

The book will be out December 3rd 2024 but get your copy now! (This will make a GREAT Holiday gift 😉😉😉)

Let me know what you think of the cover art and also, what’s your favorite graphic novel?

I moved recently and I’m still unpacking. I left the photo albums and memorabilia as the last of the things to go through. I can’t help but look at everything I unpack so this is taking a while. So many good memories I captured. Some I don’t want to remember.
This one goes in my highlight reel though.
For anyone who is new to me, I was a part of the Obama Inauguration art exhibition in Washington DC. MANIFEST HOPE:DC. This LA Times article featuring me in the Arts & Entertainment section was a huge honor. In it I talked about being invited to participate in the biggest event of my life, with my art being exhibited along side Shepard Fairy.

In the photo, I am drawing a pastel portrait of Obama on my studio floor while my youngest daughter, Sasha watches on. And Yeah, both Me and Obama have a daughter named Sasha. And both me and Obama have a mother that died of cancer. And we both lived in Hawaii.

So thanks for letting me share this walk down memory lane. by @larissabrownpaints

Happy Filipino American History month. by @larissabrownpaints

Three years ago today I experienced the most amazing weekend of my life when a handsome gentleman I met in Chicago came to visit me for some fun in the Southern California sun.
He brought his camera and we took photos of each other, leaping through the air under the Newport Beach pier. That weekend started a love affair that continues to this day. The distance became unbearable and he moved his life, drove over 2000 miles, so we could be together and I love him even more every day.
@amrogdesh I’ll be loving you always, all ways. by @larissabrownpaints

What an amazing opening reception at the Brea gallery for What Fearful Shadows exhibition curated by Clark Silva. My favorite moment of the evening was standing beside, Bonita and Tyler, the models in my paintings, and seeing their reactions.
Emotional and powerful. I’m so grateful for all of my friends who came out to support the exhibition and to all of the new friends that I made that evening. And to my love Aaron Rogers who lets me be who I am and is incredible in supporting what I do as an artist. @amrogdesh @clark.e.silva @breagallery @tyger_lillies @ocag_org by @larissabrownpaints

Tonight the shadows come out to play!

What Fearful Shadows opens tonight at the @breagallery
and my mixed media triptych is hanging in the show😭

if you’re anywhere near Orange County, you need to come stand in front of the work in person. The screen can’t do justice what a triptych does in a room. And the show is the biggest one Brea has put on- so many incredible artists included- some of my friends are in the show. @codyjimenezart @ryanriller_ @fenwayweifan @johncoulterdesigns
Come out to Brea to witness it!

Tag someone who wants to be there.

Much thanks to @clark.e.silva for inviting me to participate in this marvelous exhibition.

I'm honored to be part of What Fearful Shadows at the @breagallery

My triptych, They Burn What They Cannot Control, is a watercolor mixed media series that follows one thread of misogyny from the Salem witch trials to today's comment sections. The fire changes form. The impulse behind it does not.

Join me for opening night, Saturday, October 10, from 5 to 7 pm, free and open to the public. The show runs through December 13, Wednesday through Sunday, 12 to 5 pm.

Much thanks to @clark.e.silva for the opportunity and the beautiful curation of the show. Also, thanks to Bonita and Tyler, the models whose intense gaze helped to tell my story.

For those of you who have been wondering—What’s going on with Larissa?
This season has three very different places for my work to be seen at and I’m too busy making new art and teaching everywhere to talk about it so here it goes!

EPCOT International Festival of the Arts
A triptych piece that celebrates the magic of Disney will be part of the festival at Walt Disney World, running January 15 through March 1, 2027

What Fearful Shadows at Brea Gallery: my newest work, a watercolor and mixed media triptych confronting the Salem witch trials. This one is huge for me. It confronts the persecution of women in a historical, contemporary and very personal lived experience.
The Opening reception is October 10th at 5 p.m., on view through December 11th, at Brea Gallery, 1 Civic Center Circle.

And finally

Orientations, the fall faculty and staff exhibition from the School of Arts, Media, Performance, and Design, at Saddleback Art Gallery, running September 24th through November 6t by @larissabrownpaints
