POSTS STORIES REELS

1 Year, this day. Ahem! by @latentnoises

The museum of word in Kolkata is probably one of the most interactive museums I have experienced. An immersive journey that dates back to ancient manuscripts, languages, art forms, protests where storytelling comes alive as you tussle with surprise quizzes, interact with tactile storyboards & objects ungrudgingly, and hear different rooms express their own thoughts and words.

Museum of word leverages technology for kinesthetic displays, sound installations, holograms and gamification - befitting for the goldfish attention span of today!

This space is a huge contrast to overwhelming (and boring) museums with large “Do not touch” signs, unstructured curation that leaves interpretation to chance, and disintegrated buildings that are metaphorical to history.

Would highly recommend this experience for all ages alike. Set in the premise of the National library, this majestic strip is worth a Sunday stroll, both in the gardens outside and the time capsule inside. by @latentnoises

Walked into a time portal where the drama is waiting to be unfolded, history comes vividly alive, the bold, plump walls are whispering stories, while the framed men glare in silence. The grandiose reveals an architectural marvel that is considered ‘transitional.’

Frederick Stevens designed this piece of history along with its neighbouring classic, CSMT. Both of these are filled with intricately camouflaged birds and animals that can be a fun betting sport when u visit. In another news, Rao saheb Sitaram was the main Indian engineer who later took these learnings to construct Taj Mahal hotel.

This handsome triad of buildings have quite literally aged like wine!

The book cover was hard to resist. The short stories even more so. The writing flowed metaphorically casually baring the classism, sexism and the realities of a culture that are weaved into the everyday.

As a purist, I enjoy long form writing. Short stories halt my thoughts, leave me wanting more, and are too abrupt for my liking. This collection was no different however the clever linking of some characters across different stories kept some amusement alive.

I would pick this up for its writing - the way the words don’t shy away from details, the way some characters can make one uneasy and the way these realities hold a mirror is a path worth exploring.

Set in the Pakistan side of Punjab, the start of the book pretty much sets up the jolt for what will follow! by @latentnoises

A modern city like Chandigarh reinforces how design needs to be a function of society, weaved into everyday living, for the masses.

A stark contrast from the decorative, colonial architecture, each building and structure here was thoughtfully designed to play with sunlight, open spaces, ergonomics and acoustics that evoked expanse and inclusivity in ways that is unimaginable in older Indian cities where chaos ensues.

The city largely has imprints of the duo Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, who were cousins. From a distance they are the perfect team but as you zoom in you learn the contrasts of aesthetics, personalities and individuality that is interesting to unfold.

Parts of the trip took me back to Europe where public spaces were open invitations with blue overcast skies, rows of overarching trees, lovers strolling hand in hand and noisy kids wrestling surrounded by art and sculpture - where people watching could be declared a legitimate hobby!

A big kudos to @hipsterchandigarh for showing off his city with pride, candor and humour - I took back so much more than I signed up for! by @latentnoises

Keeping this memory pellet alive as I slowly tread into the fermentation maze, constantly amazed at how creativity has absolutely no boundaries!

Some key highlights were:

🙌 Diving into 16 miso tastings - the umami, pungent and numbness were all competing

🙌 Tropical salad which had miso infused chikkis- hyperlocal max

🙌 The corn pudding was a flavour 💣 - took me back to childhood memories

@groundup.in looking forward to more! by @latentnoises

This one made it to the feed for the artwork!

It was a good read, albeit difficult. Kept me hooked and engaged but the story seemed a tad bit stretched at the end. A genre I don’t necessarily indulge in, I found parts of it unsettling, some humorous and some confusing.

As I read more and more translations, I can see how tricky it can be for authors to retain the essence of the naarative, emotions and word play.

Although not the most impactful read for me, I enjoyed exploring the diversity of writing and a new author through ‘The Master and the Margarita!’ by @latentnoises

For some reason this Mattancherry station at Kochi took me straight to ‘The hitchhiker’s guide to the galaxy’. The odd sharp lines with strict contours set against the vast blue universe, was how I would visualise spaceships!

A core memory 🚀 by @latentnoises

The hills quintessentially have me craving for hot broth, momos and some local greens.

Our recent visit to Sikkim brought with it some interesting finds:

#1. A Nepali thali that had local vegetables and greens, but cooked in mustard oil. Did not realise this influence of mustard until I dug into this grand plate!

#2. Momos of course, but each place had their own version of Chutney. Not necessarily the familiar, Schezwan kind, but more fresh and interesting so that each plate of Momo from different places, keeps you guessing.

#3. A version of the Thentuk - The flat noodles that was perhaps made of the Momo skin flour was chewy, filled with vegetables, and had this warm delicious broth that brought everything together in harmony. by @latentnoises

A short escape to soak in the majestic snow-laden Kanchenjunga peaks, bright blue skies with puffy unruly clouds, aeriel views of wise old trees, the peeking bright azelias while hearing the novel chirping bees.

Pelling offers one of the best panoramic Mountain Views in Sikkim, although the fleeting clouds ensure there is mountain chasing and peekaboos involved in the play - and, we played on 🤓 by @latentnoises

Collecting some moments of pause! by @latentnoises

The quirkiness of Japanese storytelling is hard to replicate. The relentless confidence with which Japanese authors weave the bizarre with the everyday is an art worth having an expression for.

The narrative in the book starts with passionately emphasising the role that real Butter can play in elevating one’s senses, while discussing the relationship between food, taste, body image, perception and nostalgia all simmered into an engaging recipe, served to you, by Asako Yuzuki.

If not for the premise, the striking, bold, mustard cover is enough to tempt u into submission!

P.S. The cow thankfully is not the hero here and am happy to admit, barely plays a character to remember! #iykyk
