It took me a while to realize that I don’t need to fit into the conventional type of character. I don’t need to always play the naggy mother, or the dutiful wife, or the bored office worker.

Be you. Be unique. There are a whole spectrum of interesting characters in this world. Embrace your differentness ♥️

Join us on Friday, 28 Aug at 7 p.m. for Thesis Delibs, a TAV Art History Klub (TAV-AHK) initiative as part of CITRUS fest at Singapore Night Festival.

Step into a lively conversation! Part panel, part hangout, TAV–AHK is a collective deep-dive into exhibitions, practices, and the stories we tell about art. Moderated by storyteller Kamini Ramachandran, this edition zooms in on the messy, fascinating overlaps between well-being and myth-making in Singapore’s ever-changing cityscape.

Whether you’re here to listen, chime in, or just soak up the vibes, the Klub is an open invitation: Come for the conversation, stay for the unexpected connections.

Date: Friday, 28 August 2026
Time: 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM
Venue: 42 Waterloo Street Front Courtyard
RSVP through CITRUS website, link in bio by @laurakeelt

All in a day’s work.

Sometimes people just pass you by. Then there are the little human connections. The smiles and the “thank you”s.

Available for roadshows, formal events, conferences, awards ceremonies, and more. DM me, or email hello@laurakee.sg 🎤

Sometimes, I wonder why I do what I do. Why I keep talking about long working hours, late payments and workplace safety.

I really want to talk about more glamorous stuff - like the latest technology, and the awards, and the red carpets.

And often I wonder if what I’m researching just... isn’t important enough. Or maybe people simply don’t care.

But I’ve realised that while the work matters, the people doing the work matter too.

I guess that’s why I do what I do.

Late payments are common. So if you’ve freelanced in Singapore’s media industry for a while, you’ve probably experienced it before.

We all know it’s a problem. But my research showed just how common it really is.

58.9% of respondents said they had been paid later than the agreed payment terms. And more than 1 in 4 had experienced not being paid at all.

You know - it’s exhausting. It’s more than just waiting a little longer for your money. It sometimes affects whether you can pay your bills, buy groceries, and how much time and energy you spend chasing after payment, while wondering if the money is ever going to come in.

This is one of the findings from my Master’s research into working conditions in Singapore’s TV, film and video industry.

Have you ever experienced late payment or non-payment? How did you deal with it?

Long hours. Late payments. Workplace safety.

These are conversations we’ve been having in Singapore’s media industry for years.

I wanted to know why things are the way they are. But when I started looking for research to better understand our working conditions, I was surprised when I found… almost nothing.

So this is what I’ve spent the past few years thinking about, and researching and talking about.

I think this is a conversation worth having.

What do you think?

A few weeks ago, a friend invited me to a dialogue on sustaining a career in the performing arts.

I told her I was actually moderating it. She had no idea I was a VICPA exco member, or that I was part of the team organising it.

This is something I’ve been thinking about. Over the years, I’ve spent a lot of time doing the work - advocacy, research, organising conversations, building communities. But I haven’t been talking about it.

I think a lot of us are so busy getting things done that we rarely stop to tell people what we’re actually doing.

But people can only know the stories we share.

So I’m learning to tell my story more. Because I think the work, and the people behind it, deserve to be seen.

10 years of Korean - and still far from fluent.

Don’t let the video fool you, ‘cause I’m just really good at memorising 😂

근데 한국어를 더 잘하고 싶어서 계속 공부하고 있어~ 화이팅! 🇰🇷
