Join me today at 6PM ET | 3PM PT on @glaad’s IG Live for a #GLAADHangout with Ahmad Maksoud (@fayums_muse), a queer Egyptian- American performer, model, communication coach and my dear friend. Ahmad and I have been in community for years, and I’m so excited to be in conversation with him about all the things that matter—art, identity, and everything in between.

We’ll be talking about my solo show “ten days ago”, currently in development at the Brown Arts Institute, and how I use performance to explore the Palestinian diaspora, neurodivergence, mental illness, and the power of claiming our stories. We’ll also touch on community care, nostalgia, creative rituals, and why making weird, heart-filled work with people you love is the best kind of magic.

Come through for some laughter, reflection, and tenderness. You don’t want to miss this one. ✨ by @layanelwazani

“I love so much about this play. I love the brain forward cerebral exploration, and I love the deeply embedded spirit and somatic human exploration and the things that we’re finding in between those two polar opposite places.” – Layan Elwazani on THE ANTIQUITIES by @layanelwazani

Neahkahnie is a Native word meaning “home of the supreme being.” I haven’t stopped thinking about it. Thanks Dana for yelling “wait Lay stop” and taking this picture of me smiling in the sun after a week of sad and gloom. Hope everybody’s doing ok. by @layanelwazani

last selfie of 27 / today is my birthday / happy virgo season / go take some time for yourself and get your life together or organize something or meditate or work on your respectful yet firm boundaries or fix something instead of throwing it away or take care of someone who needs help or gracefully pass on a social event you don’t want to attend in my honor, please ♍️ by @layanelwazani
