Court speed matters. But court pace precision matters more.’ With the US Open underway on Laykold, we spoke with Luke Burden, Laykold’s Head of Events, about the importance of delivering intentional, precise and consistent court pace. Professional tennis operates in milliseconds and millimetres. Over a match, the ball can interact with the court around 800 times, making consistency an important (crucial in fact) part of the performance environment. “The goal isn’t standardization. The goal is precision.” Read the full interview: https://www.laykold.com/news/luke-burden-pace-precision #USOpen #AstroTurf #Polytan #APTUSA #APTAsiaPacific by @laykoldcourts
On August 27, the legendary Grand Ballroom at Waldorf Astoria New York was transformed into an extraordinary tennis venue. Beneath the chandeliers and gilded ceilings, a full-size Laykold tennis court, installed by our long-time partner Ace Surfaces, hosted the Waldorf Astoria Racquet Club Ballroom Tennis Invitational. Tommy Paul, Ben Shelton, Leylah Fernandez and Maria Sakkari took to the court as Waldorf Astoria celebrated the launch of its new global Racquet Club. And remarkably, it was the second spectacular Waldorf Astoria Racquet Club setting for Laykold in just two weeks. Earlier in August, the Sydney Opera House was transformed into a waterfront padel arena, with a Laykold Padel court overlooking Sydney Harbour for The Padel Invitational presented by UBS. And then there is New York’s other famous Laykold court. Just across the city, the world’s best players are competing at the US Open on Laykold, including under the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium. Congratulations to Waldorf Astoria Racquet Club on the launch, and a big thank you to Ace Surfaces for delivering another outstanding Laykold installation. #USOpen #AstroTurf #Polytan #APTUSA #AceSurfaces https://lnkd.in/efEzzJm6 by @laykoldcourts
The US Open main draw starts Sunday, but what a week it has already been on Laykold. In the opening week of the 2026 US Open, some of the biggest names in tennis history have returned to the Laykold courts at Flushing Meadows. Roger Federer was back under the lights of Arthur Ashe Stadium, joined by fellow US Open champions Andy Roddick, Andre Agassi and John McEnroe for a special night celebrating one of the game's greats. Serena Williams has also been back competing in New York, alongside Carlos Alcaraz in mixed doubles. And there is more to come, with Serena and Venus Williams set to reunite for the women's doubles, and 2016 champion Stan Wawrinka returning for one final US Open main draw appearance. It wasn’t all stars. There were also some bananas. The Savannah Bananas took over Arthur Ashe Stadium during Arthur Ashe Kids' Day, bringing Banana Ball-style games, challenges and music to the fans. There is a nice connection for us here. The Savannah Bananas have a partnership with @AstroTurf, Laykold's sister company within Sport Group, and play their baseball on an AstroTurf turf. In the US, Laykold is also available through the AstroTurf network. In Laykold's 100th year, we couldn't ask for a better way to begin the tournament than seeing generations of great players, and a few Bananas, enjoying the courts. by @laykoldcourts
