Finally had a crew remove over a dozen large trees felled during Hurricane Helene. Fortunately no damage to the Lodge. On a positive note, it opened up our Mountain View’s! Most of High Country (Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk and West Jefferson has recovered. Most businesses, restaurants, parks, roads, hiking trails are fine. So come up this summer and enjoy our cooler weather and beautiful scenery. by @lazybearlodgenc

Many of our friends and past guests have called to see if we are OK. We were fortunate that Lazy Bear Lodge suffered no damage due to Hurricane Helene. It was a traumatic experience to live through but fortunately our guests staying with us, employees and ourselves were not harmed. However the local roads, trees, power lines and bridges incurred significant damages. The Inn went without power for seven days and without communications for two weeks. To help the area recover we decided to close the Inn through November 28th. We will re-open November 29th. Since High Country is heavily dependent on tourism please visit the area over the holiday season or sometime next year! Most of your favorite attractions, restaurants, shops, etc. should be accessible by this time. by @lazybearlodgenc

We were treated to an amazingly talented local young band last night at the Music in The Park. They will be moving on to the second round of Americas Got Talent! If you get a chance to see Ashes and Arrows in concert you won’t be disappointed. Truth be told there is Gold in These Mountains! by @lazybearlodgenc
