🚒 🚓 This morning (10/27), #LCFR and the @loudounsheriff, in coordination with @novaparks and @loudounwater, conducted a large-scale search and rescue training exercise at Beaverdam Reservoir and Reservoir Park. This exercise simulated a real-world situation requiring a multi-agency response effort.

Exercises like these give first responders the opportunity to strengthen coordination, communication, and operational readiness in a realistic environment. by @lccfrs

Congratulations to our #LCFR staff on their graduation from the @nvfrldi this past weekend! Held annually, this innovative residency-based curriculum is designed to address the leadership and management needs of the fire service, challenging students and pushing them to step outside their comfort zones.

We’d also like to extend our appreciation to our LCFR staff who dedicated countless hours and effort to supporting this program. Your contributions are greatly appreciated!

Join us in congratulating Technician Keith Lee-Diamond & Firefighter II Andrew Bredow on this accomplishment! 👏 by @lccfrs

Two Hamilton residents safely escaped a late-night house fire after working smoke alarms alerted them to danger and provided critical time to evacuate.
Just after 11:00 p.m. on Friday, October 23, 2026, the Loudoun County Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls reporting a basement fire in the 38000 block of Downs Court in Hamilton. Fire and Rescue crews from Hamilton, Purcellville, Round Hill, Leesburg, and Frederick County, Maryland, responded to the scene. Firefighters found smoke and fire coming from the basement and garage of a two-story single-family home and requested a Rapid Intervention Team Task Force for additional resources.
One homeowner was evaluated for smoke inhalation. One firefighter was transported for a minor injury. Two cats perished in the fire, and Humane Law Enforcement Officers from Loudoun County Animal Services responded to assist. The occupants were displaced and are receiving aid from the American Red Cross.
The Loudoun County Fire Rescue Fire Marshal's Office (LCFR-FMO) investigation determined the fire was accidental and originated from the spontaneous combustion of improperly discarded stain-soaked rags resulting in an estimated $860,000 in damage. Smoke alarms were present on the first and second floors and operated as designed, alerting the occupants and allowing them to escape safely.

Remember these critical fire prevention tips to keep your family safe!

 Dispose of oil- and stain-soaked materials safely. Place used rags and brushes in a sealed, airtight metal container or allow them to dry completely outdoors before disposal. Never pile rags, brushes, or rollers together, rather lay them flat on an exterior surface and allow them to dry completely.
 Install and maintain working smoke alarms. Smoke alarms should be installed in every bedroom, outside each sleeping area, and on every level of the home. Residents who need assistance with smoke alarms can learn more about Loudoun County's free smoke alarm program at www.loudoun.gov/smokealarms or call 703-737-8093.

Early Happy Halloween #Loudoun! Today, Loudoun County Fire and Rescue and @inovahealth teamed up to spread smiles to kids and their families in the hospital’s pediatric unit! Our Technical Rescue personnel were decked out in costumes as they rappelled from the roof of Lansdowne Hospital. At each room, characters like Luigi, Mario, Scooby and Batman stopped to wave, blow bubbles and play games with kids through the windows.

Thank you to all of our technical rescue pro's for bringing much needed smiles to Loudoun's littlest heroes! ! A special thank you to Inova Loudoun Hospital for having us! 🦸 🚒

The holidays are right around the corner, and the Loudoun County Combined Fire and Rescue System is kicking off its second annual “Heroes for the Holidays” Toy Drive in partnership with the Loudoun Career Fire Fighters Foundation (LCFFF) and @iaff3756. Our first campaign in 2025 was a huge success, with over 4,400 toys collected to benefit children in need in Loudoun County, as well as over $3,700 in donations collected by the LCFFF to assist the non-profit organizations we support. This year’s campaign will begin Monday, October 26, 2026, and run through Friday, December 4, 2026.

Donations of new, unwrapped toys can be dropped off at any of our LC-CFRS stations, beginning Monday, October 26, 2026, through Friday, December 4, 2026. Toys can also be donated at our fire and rescue headquarters (801 Sycolin Road) and the Training Academy (16600 Courage Court) in Leesburg.

Update: Just before 5 PM on Tuesday, October 20, 2026 Loudoun County Fire and Rescue units were called to a mail processing facility in the 16,000 block of Courage Court in Leesburg for a potential hazardous materials incident. Fire and rescue units arrived on scene and established unified command with the Loudoun Co. Fire Marshal’s Office and Loudoun Co. Sheriff’s Office as the Hazardous Materials Response Team was en route.

One package was examined by Hazardous Materials Technicians and determined to be safe. There were no hazards found and no exposure to staff or first responders.

Fire and rescue units turned the facility over to management and are clearing the scene.
