The Heart Behind Legacy | Giving Back to Our Community At Legacy Spa & Wellness, we believe our purpose extends far beyond providing massage therapy. It’s about loving our neighbors, serving our community, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of others. From partnering with local organizations like YANA, the Middletown Prevention Coalition, and Ready, Set, Latch, Go, to supporting families through our Legacy Giving Tree, giving back is part of who we are. Matthew 6 reminds us that giving isn’t about recognition. It’s about serving with humility, protecting the dignity of those we help, and giving God the glory. Sometimes the most meaningful acts of kindness are the ones nobody ever hears about. ❤️ That’s the heart behind Legacy Spa & Wellness. #TheHeartBehindLegacy #LegacySpaAndWellness #GivingBack #NewportRI #CommunityMatters by @legacyspari
Welcome back to The Heart Behind Legacy! Creating Opportunities! Today I want to share something that’s especially meaningful to me as a business owner. One of the greatest joys of building Legacy Spa & Wellness has been the opportunity to create opportunities for others. When you support a small business like ours, you’re supporting more than the business itself. You’re supporting the therapists who work alongside us, including fellow entrepreneurs, single mothers, and individuals who are working hard to provide for their families. You’re also supporting an environment where therapists can continue learning, developing their skills, and growing professionally. I love teaching, mentoring, and helping others become the very best at their craft. Whether someone stays with Legacy for years or eventually moves on to pursue another opportunity, my desire is that they leave better equipped, more confident, and prepared for whatever comes next. Because to me, success isn’t simply about what I accomplish for myself. It’s also about how I can help someone else succeed. And when you support Legacy, you’re helping us continue creating those opportunities. That’s another part of the heart behind Legacy Spa & Wellness. #selfcare #newportlifemagazine #spa https://www.newportlifemagazine.com/ by @legacyspari
Representation Matters! Welcome back to The Heart Behind Legacy! Did you know that, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, in 2025, only 6.7% of massage therapists nationwide were Black or African American, and just 11.7% were Hispanic or Latino? Think about that for a moment. Those numbers really speak to why representation matters. As an African American and Hispanic woman, this is something that’s very personal to me. When I first entered the massage therapy industry, I remember looking around my community and not seeing anyone who looked like me. I didn’t see other Black massage therapists serving in my community, and I certainly didn’t see women who looked like me owning spa businesses. And I’ll be transparent. In the beginning, I struggled a little with finding my place in this industry and understanding where I fit into the marketplace. But over time, I began to realize something. Sometimes you have to become the representation you wish you had seen. Representation matters because when someone sees a person who looks like them doing something they’ve never considered possible, it can open their eyes to new opportunities. I’ve had the privilege of participating in career fairs at the Met School here in Newport, sharing my profession with young people and aspiring entrepreneurs. And one of the things I want them to know is that there is a place for them in this industry. They can pursue this profession, build successful careers, and even become business owners themselves. And I want them to know that their background, their circumstances, or where they come from do not have to determine how far they can go. So when I think about what this Best of Newport recognition would mean, I think about so much more than an award. I think about visibility, opportunity, and the possibility of inspiring someone else. Because sometimes, simply seeing someone else do it gives you the courage to believe that you can do it, too. And that’s another part of the heart behind Legacy Spa & Wellness. #selfcare #blackbusinessowner #hispanicbusiness #newportri by @legacyspari
Welcome back to The Heart Behind Legacy! My Journey: A Lifetime of Caring for Others Many people know me as a massage therapist and the founder of Legacy Spa & Wellness, but what you may not know is that my professional background actually began long before I entered the massage therapy industry. My background includes social services, human services, geriatric care, healthcare, and education. For over 20 years, caring for others has been woven throughout my professional journey. So when I entered the field of massage therapy, it felt like such a natural extension of everything I had already spent years learning and doing. It allowed me to bring together my education, my experience, and my passion for serving others in a way that is nurturing, therapeutic, and meaningful. And what’s so beautiful about this work is that it’s therapeutic for me, too. I get to take the skills and experiences I’ve gained over the years and pour them back into my clients and the therapists who work alongside me. For me, massage therapy has never been just about providing a service. It’s about caring for the whole person and making a meaningful difference, one person at a time. And that’s another part of the heart behind Legacy. by @legacyspari
✨ The Story Behind the Name: Legacy Spa & Wellness ✨ What’s in a name? For me, the word Legacy carries a much deeper meaning. When I think about legacy, I think beyond what we leave behind materially. I think about the lives we touch, the values we pass down, and the example we set for future generations. At Legacy Spa & Wellness, our mission has always been about more than massage and spa services. It’s about encouraging wellness, restoration, and intentional self-care that can positively impact not only our lives, but the generations that follow. Because the way we care for ourselves today can become part of the legacy we leave tomorrow. ❤️ 📖 Proverbs 13:22 Thank you for joining me for Video 2 of our series as I share more about the heart and purpose behind Legacy Spa & Wellness. #LegacySpaAndWellness #TheStoryBehindLegacy #WellnessWithPurpose #SelfCare #GenerationalWellness NewportRI NewportWellness WomenOwnedBusiness by @legacyspari
