During my second Big Wave season — and the filming of HER WAVE — ION was naturally part of the journey.

But when I looked through the later footage, I was still surprised by just how often their gear showed up.

Here’s a rundown of my favourites and why they’ve become Nazaré staples:

In the water
• Amaze Amp 5/4 Front Zip Wetsuit Women – my suit for every Nazaré session. Warm, strong, my armour out there.
• Neo Top Hooded Vest 2/1 – my first layer for extra warmth. Bigger swells mean longer periods and longer waits between sets.
• Neo Shelter Jacket Core – when the air drops below zero, I wear it on the jetski from the harbour to the wave. Staying toasty keeps me confident.
• Neoprene Sock Ballistic 3/2 Round Toe – essential on the extra‑cold days.
• Footstraps – mounted on my tow‑in boards. As the waves grow, I ride a board weighted with 6 kg of lead. These straps keep the board locked to my feet through every bump.

On land
• Suspect Duffel Bag – where I throw in all my gear. Big Wave surfing means a lot of equipment.
• MTB Jacket Primaloft Shelter Women – for my forest walks in Nazaré with my dog. Rainproof, minimal space, perfect when I’m already carrying too much.

How are the odds to have a big wave friend who started surfing Nazaré at the exact time as you, so has the same level and who even likes the same left waves?

It couldn't be a better setup to share a session and some laughs out there, taking turns surfing and driving the second jetski.

Thanks @katrinakruze & @nazarejet

Self-love for me means: Taking myself seriously, choosing adventure, allowing rest, and dedicating myself to a full life. These are my love languages for myself. And along the way, my skin comes with me – holding the marks, the softness, the proof of living.

And so, caring for my skin is a natural extension of the love I show myself.
