I do not want to see or share anymore graphic videos or try to show my “friends” what a genocide against my people looks like. It just needs to 🛑. I do not wish this on ANY people. I realize that whoever is silent will remain silent- whoever doesn’t care won’t care- it is what it is. But I will continue to do my best to bring awareness to the plight of the Palestinian people. #freepalestine #ceasefirenow 🇵🇸✌🏼🤞🏼🙏🏼 by @lenarunsformedals

The family that kicks together sticks together! 10 years ago today I earned my black belt in Taekwondo! I’ve always felt a need to show these kids how it’s done- so at the ripe old age of 36, a single mom, and with an 11 month old and 3 year old in tow, I signed up for Taekwondo… My eldest was 2 months into his journey and wasn’t having it so I signed up in solidarity- the idea was to show him if I could do it, so could he… A few days shy of 2 years later, I had my black belt. It was the first time in my life that I didn’t quit a sport. Video of me breaking a couple slabs with my bare hand has been posted for funsies (last slide). I was so proud! 😁🥹 My youngest was out there watching us show up to class 7-8 times a week and was ready to get out there at 2.5 years old but he was too young… so we waited another 3 months… This allowed us to Taekwondo together for a couple months before I received my black belt and ended my Taekwondo career. 🤣 They both received their 2nd degree black belts 3 years ago and I allowed them to take a break… They’ve had no desire to get back to it but I sure hope they/we all do some day. Of course- I donned my uniform every time one of us received a black belt and hopped into a family black belt pic! This is all to say, like running and fitness, it’s never too late to try something new and be that example to the kiddos! by @lenarunsformedals
Happy 15th Anniversary @shokzusa! It’s been so great running with you this year! Hope you enjoy my very basic but very first try at GPS art… just for you! 😁 #shokzstar #shokz15thanniversary by @lenarunsformedals
Just honing in on my run/walking paces… cause honestly- that’s what got me through Berlin (and many a marathon before that). Today- we did a 0.5 mile walk/0.5 mile jog which is my fave on an active recovery day (while kid was at XC practice). Short story: My heart wasn’t with RACING Berlin (I’d probably best describe it as burn out after running 12 marathons in 2 years)… I kept hoping things would change during training… I wanted to be hyped up and excited to CRUSH it but I got to that start line and the last thing I wanted to do was run 26.2 miles… so I made a promise to myself that I could start walking after the half. I discovered that I felt good with a 0.2 mile walk/0.8 mile jog… so I did that for most of the 2nd half… The walk was typically at the top of each mile… if I saw a slight downhill, I did run that and break up my walk break… but 1) It made things more fun and relaxing for me… less painful, 2) It gave me something to look forward to after my 0.8 mile jog (I told myself I only had to do a 10 min pace for the jog, but think I was faster than that… often seeing that I was sub 9). Included my splits in the last pic in case someone wanted to see what that looked like… My only real goal for Berlin was to beat my Sydney Marathon time (4:18:15) so I knew I had time on my side after crossing the half in a sub 2 (by a mere 12 seconds). In conclusion… lol… I think if I can walk a little faster and run a little faster- this could be my jam as I battle these stubborn injuries and get older. by @lenarunsformedals
Beach Cities Challenge Year 5 ✔️ @surfcitymarathon Half @ocmarathon Half @longbeachmarathon Half Local-ish and usually really fun… but this year was another mind over body battle for me… Completing this challenge marks the beginning of the end of my 5th year of running… more disappointments than anything else but we still got out there and got them done! I started off the year promising myself that if it was anything like 2025, I would just quit running. And guess what?! It was even worse 😢 but I can’t quit now! I slowed down… but kept going. And signed up to do this all over again in 2027 on a prayer and a hope that it will be a whole lot more fun than this year! Some highlights… 🤣 - Ran @surfcitymarathon half over 20 minutes slower than in 2025- which is my current half PR. - Managed a course PR at the @ocmarathon even though it wasn’t pretty. - Ran @longbeachmarathon over 14 minutes slower than last year. So yeah… I survived another year… barely. @ocmarathon DC: LENA @shokzusa #shokzstar @runinrabbit #radrabbit by @lenarunsformedals
Spent the day thinking about little Mariam (slide 2), who watched her mother be burned alive due to an Israeli airstrike and is now an orphan. Why we are still funding and supporting this, I’ll never understand. I went on my 5K walk/run and as I was returning home, saw the @burbankforpalestine crew out there… it is so good to be in community during these times with my people. ✊🏼🇵🇸 Free Palestine. End the Occupation. by @lenarunsformedals
CIM Training- Week 1 (10/5-10/11) Walking: 7.81 miles Running: 27.90 miles Aquarium of the Pacific 5K (10/10/26)- Year 5 ✔️ Long Beach Half Marathon (10/11/26)- Year 5 ✔️ @longbeachmarathon Beach Cities Challenge 2026- Year 5 ✔️ @beachcitieschallenge Busy busy weekend with lots of running and baseball games. 🤣 Loved seeing friends over the weekend at the race and while volunteering at the @ocmarathon booth on Saturday. Big congrats to everyone who raced this past weekend! My goal for the weekend was to race and AG place at the Aquarium of the Pacific 5K but knew I had nothing to give so showed up to the start line a little down (thanks @dwighttherunningman for calming me down)… I gave it what I could and was surprised to have come in 1st. I ran 20 seconds faster per mile last year and barely snagged 3rd. 🤷🏻‍♀️ For the half- just glad I was able to slow down, listen to my body, and get it done… Stayed in my lane, took walk breaks, and tried to make the best of it! The cooler temps made this @longbeachmarathon half one of my favorites so far! 5th half of the year and I haven’t been able to race any of them- so a training run, it was! Have one more half @runmalibu and hoping I feel strong enough to race that one. It will likely be the run that determines whether or not I’ll be showing up to CIM. Until then- I’ll keep going with the training! I’ll be getting a piriformis injection tomorrow and hope that will help with the glute pain… And then we will go from there… one thing at a time. Lol. Keep showing up friends and Free Palestine! 🇵🇸✊🏼 @ocmarathon, @runforaclaus, @thecorona5000- 10% Discount Code: LENA @shokzusa #shokzstar @runinrabbit #radrabbit by @lenarunsformedals
@shokzusa have made my runs more enjoyable and safer! They’re comfy, I love how they clip on (don’t have to worry about them falling out of my ear), have great sound, and allow me to hear the outside world! As a heads up. there is a Prime Day sale today and tomorrow (10/6 and 10/7) on their website (up to 40% off)… so it’s the perfect time to purchase new headphones if you’re in the market! I’m always down for a discount, as you all probably know by now 🤣, so just wanted to share! (Note: You can stack my discount code, RunningisFun, for an additional 5% off) #shokzstar by @lenarunsformedals
I have been marathoning for 4.5 years and have run 16 marathons now… This is just a little peak into my last 10 months of marathoning… (CIM 12/7/25, LA Marathon 3/8/26, Berlin Marathon 9/27/26). My run journey has taken me all around the world… it has me grateful to move and travel and inspire… But there is always this lingering sadness and frustration that I’ll likely never reach my full potential… not as long as I have to battle the pain. So goals and training adjust to “getting through it, having fun, and crossing the finish line.” Running in pain is not a vibe… it is not fun… and I don’t wish it on anyone… but it’s the only option I seem to have. For now. I’ll keep going… keep showing up… and hope that one day it will pay off… CIM is in 9 weeks and, and to be honest, for the first time ever, I don’t know that I have the heart to toe that start line just to run it for “fun.” by @lenarunsformedals
