$After fracturing my collarbone at the end of June, three months later almost everything feels normal again. I started teaching yoga again in September and can now also focus on my own practice again. This has definitely helped me appreciate my fully functioning body, and also made me (even) more aware of how much I need movement in my daily life. Sometimes it's good to take a step back, slow things down, and appreciate the things we take for granted. #lenayogena #yoga #injury by @lenayogena$

reach for the stars ✨

Honestly, I was not the biggest fan of backbends myself. I avoided doing them in class and struggled with pain in the back after practicing them for a long time. However, sometimes this is exactly what your body needs. And backbends are great for opening your heart, strengthening your back, lengthening your spine and improving your posture.

Now I focus on protecting my spine while doing backbends by tucking my tailbone, engaging my abdominal muscles, tilting my pelvis and most importantly stopping whenever it feels uncomfortable in the lower back. This improved my backbend practice a lot.

Happy Friday 🩶

During our opening and closing puja at the yoga teacher training @himalayayogavalley we worshiped the great yoga gurus. Among them Krishnamacharya and BKS Iyengar.

Puja is a worship ritual performed by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. The aim is to offer prayers to deities, to honor a special guest or to celebrate a lifetime event. It can be performed at home or at a temple. Offerings like flowers, food or light are an essential part of the ceremony.

While searching for a name for my Instagram account, I came across the word „yogena“ in one of the mantras we chanted at the YTT. When I read about the meaning of the word and realized it was a perfect fit for my name, this account was born ☺️

Happiest in the sun and on the mat ☀️ by @lenayogena

Hi there and namaste! 🙋‍♀️ My name is Lena, I live and practice yoga in Vienna!

To start off, a little about myself…
I have always enjoyed sports. It all started with dancing, later on I moved to more endurance sports, a short detour to a semester of rugby, until I found yoga. I like variety, therefore I still practice different sports but my biggest hobby is definitely yoga.

Many describe me as a pool of calm, and someone you can always rely on. You will see these parts of me during my yoga praxis. by @lenayogena

I want to give others the opportunity to take the same strength and peace from yoga that I get from the practice.

I started yoga at a point in my life when I was not happy at work. The yoga practice was my safe haven and reset button at that time.

My goal is to give my students the same feeling.

In October 2022 I completed my yoga teacher training in India. A very special experience, which I owe to @himalayayogavalley and all the other yogis who accompanied me there.

The time there changed my approach to yoga a lot. Before that I equated yoga with asana practice. Since the training, the concept of yoga is much broader for me and influences many areas of life.

Mediation, pranayama, ayurveda and mantras have been as much a part of yoga as asana for me since then. My practice includes all of these elements in turn.
