I had a wonderful moment this past week to witness this amazing eagle quietly viewing their home. A huge nest below which has protected many chicks yearly. We can learn so much from our surroundings. Soar today in whatever you do and listen for the cry of the eagle. by @leoraarmstrongstudio

🎨 October’s Featured Artist: Stacy Bogdonoff. By Leora Armstrong. 🖌️ Stacy Bogdonoff’s studio is an Aladdin’s cave of found objects, jewels, fabric, and thread, each in its place, waiting to be bought into another life through one of her pieces. Bogdonoff is a mixed-media artist, pulling together paper, fabric, print making, stitching, and painting into an art collage. Threads are left unfinished, like sentences allowing the work to wander further into another piece. The connection throughout her work discusses place, home, and past, bought into being in a contemporary sustainable practice. The unraveled hem of a fine muslin petticoat shows the stain of time, which has become a line through the work. The marks of life in the materiality engage with each other despite coming from obscure beginnings. Delicate stitching holds everything in place, weavings printed and sewn work side by side, and the holes left on pages of book all give a deep sense of age and narrative throughout her work, stories retold in the thread. .... The joys of this month in the garden as the season gently shifts, moving slowly into a new year with seed heads abounding preparing to fall gently to the ground … those raspberries were really good. 😉 #garden #pollinator #wildflower by @leoraarmstrongstudio
🎨 September’s Featured Artist: Ari Kardasis. By Leora Armstrong. 🖌️ I met Ari Kardasis at his studio near Pine Plains, NY. Outside of his space stands a mature red Japanese maple with its gnarled trunk twisting upward toward a burgundy canopy of deeply etched leaves. This tree seems a fitting neighbor to his practice of working with wood and metal, forming both practical furniture pieces and wall hangings shaped through his lifelong passion for mathematics and by a drive to turn the abstract into tangible objects. .... If you are settling in for the rain today do have a perk at this article in Main Street Magazine on Ari Kardasis who draws his inspiration from the poetry of mathematics and from the ancient unearthed shells. He pulls this into the wood pieces he creates revealing the grain and the beauty of the wood. We had a good natter about his process in his Pine Plains Studio. 2.
